As I wanted to write and tell everyone what they missed last night at Bellapais, I was thrilled to discover that Heidi Trautman had already done it on Facebook - so I am sharing her news with yo u - with thanks.

Gerlis Ensemble in Bellapais
It was one of those evenings you don’t want to miss. The Gerlis Ensemble from Germany made music for us, true artists who enchanted us with their professionalism, with their obvious passion for music; for me it was balm for the soul. Our Rauf Kasimov joined them on the piano for one piece, namely Johann Christian Bach. They only had one single day to get to know each other but how beautifully it worked;
We heard Luigi Gatti (1740-1817) Quartet in F major;
Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782) Piano quartet in G major ;
Gordon Jacob (1895-1984) Quartet for oboe, violin, viola. cello and
W.A. Mozart (1756-1791) Quartet in F major KV 370.
A second concert will be given tonight at the Bedesten with the following programme….
Jiri Druzecky (1745-1819 Quartet for oboe in G minor;
Franz Schubert (1797-1828 String Trio Movement in B major;
Gordon Jacob (1895-1984) …the same again as in Bellapais …it was just too beautiful….
Maurice Ravel 1875-1937) Pavane four une infant défunte, version for string trio
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-179) Quartet in F Major KV 370."

Two of the pieces are being repeated tonight (Saturday) but that is not stopping us going. Great to get some great music by truly profesisonal players, and the Bedestan has a mystery of its own which adds to the mystery of the music.
