Before the winter we would like to make our log burner more efficient ~ it is set into the fireplace and that's where most of the heat stays!
We would like if possible to pull it forward from the chimney & am guessing that we will need to extend/replace the pipe inside the chimney ~ failing that we are thinking of knocking down the chimney breast altogether (not sure if I can stand the mess of that). Any help and advice would be much appreicated.
Fire was fitted by Akinlar a few years ago but has never worked properly in my opinion ~ so please no referrals to them.
Thank you for reading

Re: Log Burner advice / help needed
We had exactly the same problem. Last autumn we knocked our chimney breast down, back to the wall leaving a triangular platform for a base. We got Cyprus marble to come and measure up and they made up a piece of granite to cover the whole of the platform down to the floor. We also bought tiles from them to cover the wall where the chimney breast had been. We had to buy a new pipe, from Akinlar, they were supposed to fit it but the pipe they brought was not quite right so we just got another pipe made by them to our measurements and fitted it ourselves. A friend re-plastered the wall and put the tiles up. The difference it has made is unbelievable - before it struggled to heat the room, after it warms the room almost as soon as it is lit.

Come_on-aylin - many thanks for your reply. Appreciate it. I think that is probably our only alternative.
I do think we should have been advised that the burner would not work efficiently when fitted in the fire place ~ don't you?
Thanks again

We put up with it for about 5/6 years! It wasn't Akinlar who fitted ours originally so can't blame them but the supplier should have warned us. Still, looking forward to another warm winter
