Crossroads Rock and Blues band, Question for asap.

Last night I went to Melly's bar in Ozankoy opposite the Altinkaya Hotel, to see the band Crossroads. IMHO this is an excellent band, consisting of Gavin Simons and a couple of Cypriot guys, guitarist and drummer. If I had not received a text message, I would not have been aware of this event. Unfortunately it was poorly attended Can their agency asap, explain why there was so little publicity? Maybe I missed it, but apart from Cyprus today "what's on" I have checked, I could find nothing on Kibkom Forum or Cyprusscene nor even an advertisement out side the bar!

Owl Lady, I was there yesterday for a short while also, and although absolutely nothing to do with the person you direct this post to, may be a little help to your point. I dont know who asap is, but if you knew nothing about this gig, how come you know the name of one of the band members and not the other 2 and know they were 2 Cypriot guys ? ( a bit suspicious this post) perhaps the reason there was not many people there was because of the same reason I left after 3 songs, but did not post my opinions unlike you for some reason. Sal

OK fair enough, you didn't like them, not your sort of music. I posted because, Gavin is a friend. He told me of the gig, I don't know the other guys names. asap is his agency, based at Almond Holiday Village. I was just wondering why no publicity?. No ulterior motives.

Owl Lady - As you highlighted the event was in Cyprus Today events listings, it was also advertised on the agency website events section http://www.info@allstarscyprus.com, and the all stars facebook page on https://www.facebook.com/AllStarsCyprus ... otionsAsap.
The agency will be in the future listing in cyprus scene although this is not an avenue that has previously been used. With regards to why there was no advertising outside the bar that is a question that you would need to address to the venue.

Owl Lady, I like that sort of music, but.... I am not sure if its the actual place that makes the music sound bad, if its too loud, or if its the band. I left after 4 songs, and this was waiting for almost an hour for it to start, I read that it started at 5 and I was there from 4.45, I read that they were playing from the All starts website, I will go and see them play at the showcase on the 17th to see if they sound any better. Regarding the advertising, I would've thought that each artist is capable of doing his own pushing on the forums, surely as long as All stars advertise on their own web page and other forms of media that should be enough. How about Mellys put a blackboard up outside like the Fez do, you will get more views from the traffic that pass the Bellapais road than hits on a forum.
Perhaps its not the lack of advertising as previous weeks have had low turn outs, not just for the music but for the food as well, maybe its the venue that's at fault for low turn out, who know the public can be fickle. I wont go back again, I find the atmosphere unwelcoming, and that has nothing to do with the band or sound or lack of advertising.
