Music West Side - The Misfits play Oris Bar (near GAU)
We apologise to our followers who could not get a seat at Bollywoods and Stevies Bars this week. Both establishments had to turn away patrons because just too many people wanted a seat in the house, and they felt that the standard of service would drop if they crammed more punters in.....
So, this week we have an extra gig West side. Friday 4th October
If you like blues, R & Roll, smooch, covers from the 60's and a little bit reggae come on over to the Oris bar (turn off the Lapta road towards the GAU) on Friday 4th October, where we will be playing from about 8.30 ish onwards.
Jeff on Vocals, Charlie on Bass, Kevin - Rhythm, Andy - Lead guitar, Tony on Drums and YES..... Dennis-the-Menace on a very sexy Sax !!!
No backing tapes, no 21 piece orchestras just Jeff and the boys playing for you....
And remember :-
Charlie...whatever....it's played in the key of C
Tony.... No, Cocaine is not the first number in the second set
Andy.. It's a count of 3
Jeff, well just blow that harp lol
Hope to see you there
TonyE
The Misfits Band.

I hadn't seen the band for sometime but was sadly disappointed with the Misfits performance the other night at Nosheen. Such a shame. I certainly won't be rushing to them again anytime soon.
I have seen a number of your posts for the band and wonder what it is you have against backing tracks? If it means a polished performance and a good time for all what is the problem? It is sounding like a very unprofessional criticism of the performers who do use them.

I saw them at Bollywood on Friday and it was standing room only. They were great IMO. Good to hear real music for a change.I would like to hear the sax player Dennis do a solo number!!

So that is not an unwarranted criticism of performers who do
not use them?
Each to their own.......................

Just a quick posting in response to Taffy and Sal's comments:
Re backing tapes.. Your presumption and question is interesting and worth a comment.
I have nothing against backing tapes or the artists that use them.... without them there are few performers that would have a show at all. What I say in my postings is that WE don't use them, nothing more.
My personal preference is LIVE music, ie performers doing it on stage for the audience, in realtime, warts and all....and that is far more difficult than singing and strumming along to a professionally prepared studio recorded tape where the timing and pitch are all perfect. And regards professional polish, I agree with you that canned backing tapes will make the quest for perfection much easier than holding together an amateur band of retirees of average quality for 2 x 55 min sets + encore!
Having said that it is nice to see that our followers do like live music....we now hold the record for attendances at Stevies, 180 people came to see us for the last gig, also Bollywoods was packed to capacity for the last 3 gigs. - When the owners have to hire extra tables/chairs/staff and put up signs saying "please do not come in, we have no room", and stop taking table bookings two days before we are due to appear....then we are doing something right.
And if you want to hear the Misfits Band play Live, our October bookings are confirmed at:
The Oris Bar, near GAU Tonight
The Ship - Tuesday 8 Oct,
The Lodge - Wed 9th Oct,
The Fez - 11 Oct,
Nosheens - 16 Oct,
Bollywoods - 25 Oct and
Stevies - 26 Oct
Thank You
TonyE

Hello Tony, I do feel you are missing the point and as yet have not responded to your ads where you clearly knock people like myself for "choosing" to use backing tracks (tapes went out just after the war surely you remember ha ha). Every ad you have posted for the Misfits in the last year has seriously condemned anyone who chooses not to be in a band for various reasons and you personally know mine. I do not post in my gig ads that I use "backing tapes" and not amateur "would be" musicians who think they can play their instrument by telling people so. I think there is enough space here for all who choose to perform and it is up to the audiences to go see them or not, without all this bitching !!!! I also note that you have stopped this silly knocking lately. I think we are all too old for this sort of behaviour don't you ??? Hoping you all have a great gig tonight kind regards Barry.

Magalan, sorry if I have upset you, but think I am allowed just one small comment in defense of entertainers who use backing tracks rather than be bullied by second rate, opinionated drummers, and keyboardists (and I use the term extremely loosely) and will not comment again as it is clear I am not allowed an opinion, as any opposition clearly upsets you and I am bit too busy in the real world. goodbye regards Barry

Well said Barry, Don't know where Tony E gets his statistics from. When we went to see the Misfits, mainly because of his own "big up" there were a dozen people there, so perhaps 168 had fled for the exit, like us. Sal

Not quite sure where the "upset" came through in my simple question - which you failed to answer...................
in defense of entertainers who use backing tracks rather than be bullied by second rate, opinionated drummers
so I'll ask it again - who's bitching now?
Glad your "real" world keeps you so loosely busy....................

I just find it interesting that 177 people have read this post advertising the gig, yet in the events section only 8 have read it.
