I am sorry, but I do have to agree. The last weeks offering" BRS in turmoil", has almost started world War 3.

Wow,l that warning is what was given us when we went to Coppacabana Beach in Rio. I would not expect that here! I thought this place was safe and it is such a joy to know that (apart form a very small minority of people) this is a place where one can trust those around you.

Next you know they will be telling us to 'Lock up Your daughters'.

And as to BRS in Turmoil - there is now a seeming 'fight' of old versus new, which is hope is being exaggerated and that the AGM will be credit to an organisaiton that has stood tlal for many years.

(I have not as yet read this week's CT but am merely commenting on what has been written above.)

I've just read the article and there is no mention of warnings against wearing jewelry or going out after dark!! I actually read it as a very positive and informative piece about a pilot project which is "a measure to prevent crime". Surely that's a good thing so that tourists feel like this is a safe place to visit?!

Perhaps it just depends if you are a glass half-full or half-empty type of person as to how you react to these type of stories.

Thanks about the photo - will have to take a look. Itold Susie that thyeywould notpublish it!!!!

As to the cops, if it does make people feel safe and not intimidated, a good thing. When I wa sin Australia, there were a fews probs in the inner city with the indigenous people, so they formed a patrol made up of the Noongar tribe (form which most in the Perth area came). It worked well as the presence of the patrol meant that the indigenous people knew they were being watched, and it gave other assurance that if there should be any trouble then there was someone there to deal with it.

Plus of course, maybe just maybe, these new police will find all the naughty motorists that park on pavements etc, and could improve on that - a bit like traffic wardens.

ASo we wait and see. So I guess it was just an assumption that we need to watch our handbags - but from whom??????????????????

Have a nice, safe, crime free day, you all!!!!
