FAMAGUSTA and ISKELE FESTIVALS
This week we see the start of the 2 main Festivals in the East of the TRNC.
Today Turkish pop favorite LeventYuksel opens the 3 week Famagusta Arts and Cultural Festival with a show starting at 9 pm at the Salamis amphitheatre.
Many other events are scheduled with information and tickets available from Deniz Plaza stores. Tickets can also be purchased on the night from a billet desk near the entrance to the Amphitheatre.
On Wednesday 27th June, we see the opening of the Iskele Festival by the President of the TRNC.
Many events are planned between then and the close of the Festival on the 8th July. Posters for the festival are going up around the area, many containing dates and times of events. ( All the main feature events in Iskele start at 9 pm )
Included in the programme are:-
Wed 27th June – Opening Ceremony in Iskele
Fri 29th June – Performances of folk dance guest groups including the fabulous Russians
Sun 1st July- Gala Night by International Iskele Municipality Folk Dance Festival, broadcast across Europe ( If you saw the Russian taster on Friday, I assure you, you will back again for this one ).
Above is just a sample of what will once again be a superb month of entertainment.
ALL Iskele shows are FREE and Famagusta are charging a maximum of 30TL.
Most Residents are hooked by the Festival and we now have people planning their holidays to be here at the right time.
