Peter's Fiddlathon for TULIPS
Peter, violinist with Stringfellas, is doing a charity fiddlathon at The Waterfront, Lapta on June 9th. During the day he is going to be joined by local musicians (including Stringfellas) dancers, etc. and will attempt to play for 12 hours! Proceeds will be donated to the cancer charity TULIPS. If you would like to sponsor him for this event further information can be found at http://www.docmartintrnc.net/fiddlathon. Please help him raise money for this excellent cause. Thank you.

I understand this is now part of the Lapta Festival, which will make it bigger and better and hopefully more money for tulips. Hope Peter's fingers can fiddle for long enough!

Re: Peter's Fiddlathon for TULIPS
It is still unclear whether Peter's Fiddlathon for TULIPS will be allowed to take place in Girne at the end of September. Even he is given permission those who were going to accompany him throughout the day are not sure if they should risk being fined. This seems a sad situation especially as much needed money was being raised for charity.
I am unsure what the thinking is behind this latest piece of ligislation on the part of the TRNC government but I am sure it will backfire when tourists find they are unable to visit a restaurant or bar in the evening to listen to their preferred music.
We can only hope that common sense will eventually prevail.

Re: Peter's Fiddlathon for TULIPS
I wrote to Peter and all is now well. Did he not get the e mail. I will try to find the relevant piece of answer from the government. But as he has Belediye permission and as the charity has given approval, then it is O.K for EVERYONE to be in the event thatis booked to do it.
no probs. Really. also I believ e there has been a bit of an uproar, so it could be that further announcements will be made later - but I am not sure.
But go ahead, peter! Plan, and raise money for Tulipsw. i was talking to Raziye again today and tulips is so desperate for money to keep going.
