Barnabas – The musical, tells the story of Saul & Barnabas (Acts 13)

Readers will remember the musical production of Two Sisters & A Funeral a few years ago. The Reverend Simon Holloway who was Chaplain in Ayia Napa at the time, introduced the idea to the Archdeaconate of Cyprus. It was written and produced by Roger Jones of Christian Music Ministries. Roger has written a brand new musical, Barnabas. Barnabas tells the story of Saul & Barnabas and their travels to Cyprus.

Following Barnabas’s World Premier in Birmingham, UK in 2015, a further thirteen venues are planned for 2016. The venues include: Kidderminster, Brixham, Heydock, Newthorpe, Nuthall, Welshpool, Macclesfield, Alcester & Lechlade and finally Cyprus in November!

Roger Jones, his soloist singers, including Devon Brown who took the lead singing role in Two Sisters & A Funeral along with his stage crew arrive on the Island on November 9th. A couple of days before the first performance.

Venues and dates are planned as follows:

November 11th, The Colony hotel roof top theatre, Kyrenia
November 12th, The Student Activity hall, Famagusta
November 14th, The Scala theatre, Larnaca
November 16th, UKCA, Paphos
November 18th, ICF, 65 Eleftherio, Limassol
November 20th, Municipal Theatre, Strovolos, Nicosia

We are delighted that Kyrenia will host the first production of the tour of Cyprus. We have a wonderful venue thanks to the generosity of the Arkin Hotel Group, owners of the Colony Hotel. We are planning to stage a performance at 7pm on November 11th followed by a buffet supper. Theatre goers will be able to meet & chat with the Director and cast. Further details with prices will be announced later.

Lynette Oruc is directing rehearsals for the Kyrenia chorus and will welcome anyone who wishes to take part in this special event. Rehearsals begin on Monday 2nd May at St Andrew's Church hall at 6pm and will continue throughout May and June and restart in October.'
