Thanks everyone for your support, it was great fun, but very hard work. After the supermarket tour from east to west, we drove slowly through Girne High Street whilst the band played on the move, the atmosphere was electrifying as everyone in the cafe's and bars stood up and clapped and cheered and followed us along the route finally stopping at the monument next to the Dome (after a nice policeman checked our documents) and a huge crowd gathered to cheer them on !!! After a few numbers the generator packed up as couldn't take the strain, so all ended after 5 hours of a real first, Live concert, on the move in North Cyprus. We sold many tickets for next Saturday's concert at the Jasmine Court and overall had a great time the band are very grateful for everyone's support and a big thank you from them to all ! regards Barry on behalf of the "Foreign Nationals" ps they were on TV today also .

Hi Barry

Is the concert being held inside or out?

Thanks.

Hello Crofter, the concert is inside in the superb "St Hilarion Suite" which is well air conditioned and comfortable seating etc. I chose an inside venue for their first full concert purely for acoustics reasons ! we have a limited budget for sound and light and to produce such a full sound outside would have needed much more. The venue chosen will definitely not disappoint as the light show is worth seeing alone being provided by Cyproductions at a much reduced rate ! I am hoping to produce a very top rate concert on a budget that people here will remember for a long time, especially the boys in the band, who are trying so hard. I hope the ex pats of North Cyprus get behind them to give them the encouragement they deserve ! Thank you regards Barry

Thanks for the link Barry, I watched it and have to say that it dosent sound like them at all, they sound much better in "real life" dont know if its the video camera sound or what, and as I heard them on the day, I know they sound a lot better. Please dont think I am being negative about the Foreign Nationals, I am being negative with the video sound.

Hello Owl Lady we are not in control of what sound quality people use to record the band playing in a car park and therefore at the mercy of their equipment ! I am sorry you were not impressed you will be noticeably missed on the night but bet you having a hoot somewhere else thankfully ! regards Barry

Hi Barry.Sorry if you thought I was too critical. I am probably being unfair to comment on the sound as it was obviously done under difficult circumstances. I do wish the guys all the luck in the world on the night at the Jasmine court. I will not be having a "hoot" else where, but good luck to everyone concerned.

The sound on the video did not do the boys justice, they are fabulous in real life so if anyone has not decided where to go then please come along to the Jasmine Hotel tonight.

It's only 15tl to enter and you will not only be supporting the fantastic lads but also Tulips!

Hello Owl Lady thank you for your reply. I did think you were a little harsh as explained. Everyone involved in staging tonights concert have worked so very hard to make it an unforgettable night for the boys, and whoever attends, and hope you can make one of their concerts soon kind regards Barry !

Scooby !!!! I think we have now smashed the 300 barrier and have still some more to sell ! Alternatively you can just "Turn up" and the price stays the same just 15TL for a whole evenings entertainment from 4 super lads ! regards Barry
ps just noticed your footnote from WC !! another of his famous quotes : A lady said to him "Sir you are drunk" he replied "yes, but you are ugly, and I shall be sober in the morning" !!!!!!

Barry, that exchange is ascribed to Bessie Braddock.

Thought they were very good good sound from such young lads, drummer was EXCEPTIONAL.

Well done lads.

One thing I will say is that it will be under severe sufferance I ever set foot in the Jasmine Court again. 10tl for local spirits without a mixer and 10 tl a small glass for Don Simon white wine, un-chilled served from a carton which is probably under 5 tl a litre is taking the Mick a bit as was 10tl for a small Efes.

What a fantastic night, everyone that participated should be proud of themselves. I enjoyed all of the concert, the drumming duet was outstanding, the sound quality was superb, the light show fantastic. I am proud to have witnessed their first concert, and I hope there will be many more to come.

Does anyone know what the teenagers thought about them?

So pleased Lor and Jonnie that you enjoyed the boys! They really worked hard and sounded fantastic and it's great to hear just how much people enjoyed their music.
Lor - yes we have had lots of comments from the younger section of the audience who all were amazed by how good Foreign Nationals sounded and how great the music was, they also really enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next Foreign Nationals gig!

Thank you to all who came along and supported the evening.

Hi Barry and the Guys.I am so glad that the show was a success and I will try to get to the next venue.Good luck to them in the future. I do know something about the music scene as my husband used to play guitar and sing in a group, many moons a go. His brother was a in a band touring with various groups.Status Quo, Queen,Deep Purple, others I can't recall off hand..

Jonnie, thank you for your very positive comments re the boys performance and sound ! Personally I could have not wished for a better evening. The boys were absolutely fantastic and the sound and lights from Cyproduction was just perfect which was paid for by Credit West ! There were one or two who expressed that they were too loud (snore) and even one person who made reference to Elvis Presley so don't know which planet he was from but strengthened the theory of aliens infiltrating Earth !
The Jasmine Court provided the ballroom free of charge, thanks to Tulips, which enabled us to keep the ticket fee very low compared to other concerts, but this reflected in the price of drinks and food, over which we had no control, and seems standard throughout the Hotels in North Cyprus. Having cleared the last of the equipment this morning, the boys, (young men), are still on a high not believing that they had played such a prestigious first concert which is what we set out to achieve and the most important aspect of the whole event, raising funds for those with cancer.
They/We would like to thank you, and everyone who supported us over the last few months and last night in making this whole period a memorable success and look forward to your continued support at future concerts. Kind regards Barry.
ps Lor51 glad you liked our "drum duet"

Barry, I would happily go and see them again but not at the JC. I am not your average whining brit and generally do not complain about prices, if I am out I am out. However on this occasion the pricing was beyond ridiculous.

I would like to congratulate Tulips and they will have my continued support, a good gig well organised.
