Does anybody have one or know if magnolia trees are good to grow in Cyprus. We are still experimenting with our garden and being swallows we are trying to grow as much drought resistant plants as possible. We have got a lemon tree, mandarin tree, banana tree, clementine tree, fig tree, a yellow hibiscus, some cacti, pakistani nights plant and the rampant bougainvilla which was 3" tall when we bought it and within a year it was over the roof of our villa needless to say it had a huge hair cut last October and will no doubt be getting another one next week, anyway back to the magnolias anyone???

Do they sell them in TRNC ? I have never seen one anywhere for sale. My wife would love one when we come over. Can you please tell me where to get one from.
Thanks

Hi Mickyron
we just got back from Cyprus this week and we did get our magnolia tree, it was a lot bigger than we wanted and the guy foned around to see if he could get us a smaller one, he could have but we would be back in uk by then so we went back a few days later and got the original we saw. The guy has a small stall at Girne market on a Wednesday that is how we got to know him but he told us where he lived and he has got a fab garden opposite Supreme supermarket which is where we go for all our plants. He is out most of the week but is usually around on Saturdays and you can go round the back to see him, he only speaks turkish but there is often a couple of girls around who speak english and translate for us. Hope that helps.

Sorry for delay but only recently back home.We bought a magnolia tree 9 yrs ago & although it took a while to get established it is now doing well & is flowering every year, the only problem is that the beautiful big creamy flowers only last a few days.It wasn't cheap but I'd dreamed of having having a Magnolia after walking under a parade of them whilst on holiday one year.
