I'll have a cuppa, the best time for cutting back is late spring early summer, then you can just give then a small little trim every 4 to 6 weeks to encourage plenty of flowering. Well thats what Mrs sparkymike says !!!

We were forced to cut ours right back, it reached the roof, this was necessary as the house was going to be painted.

We thought it might kill it cutting it in September whilst it was in its full glory flowerwise, but no, it is absolutely fine just 5 metres shorter. It is happily growing new shoots and will probably outlive us all!
