Unidentied bug in garden

Yesterday whilst spraying some ants saw a bug I have not seen before. It was like a little red beetle with an 8 on its back. Reminded me a an American football shirt.

I really wish I had taken a picture of this beetle.....can`t find out what itis and can`t see it in the garden to take pic now.
Typical..................never mind.
Maybe it`s a MAN U BEETLE????

No.
I saw some others yesterday with an 8 on the back but the ones i saw originally where a deep bright red. That`s why they reminded me of a football shirt..............

Don't know what your beetles are, but have seen them also.
I've seen a strange bug in my garden too, anybody who can identify this???
