Any luck?
It would make sense to have a link to the Essenteppe bus?
Maybe suggest it to the beli?

Hi
The Tatlisu Beli just said no buses, didnt think to suggest a link to the Esentepe bus, when I go again will mention it to them, the Tatlisu Beli is still quite a way from us, we are just the wrong side of the pick up from Esentepe, but far too far to walk along the motorway.
Now realise we may have to buy a car, hiring a car for 7 weeks seems too expensive.
No Taxis want to come either, I rang 2 taxi firms in Esentepe, it was a short trip to the supermarket, and they didnt want to know, anyone else have this problem ! not enough money in it I expect.
Sorry I seem to be having a rant now jj

We are in a similar predicament as we are also at Tatlisu, and have so far rented a car, but will be buying a car ourselves when we come back out as there is NO public transport in the area. As lovely as the area is it's not easy to travel around

The Estate Agent that sold us the apartment, said there is a Dolmus that we could catch at the end of of our road, how wrong they were. !

We have seen people waiting on the side of the road for some sort of transport, but have never seen anything. Have you asked around where you like as the locals are normally in the know lol

As far as I am aware, there is only 1 dolmus/bus going from Tatlisu to Lefkosa, pretty early in the morning when most folk are still in bed, and returning late afternoon/evening. Can only assume it's for those working in Lefkosa. Would be a good idea to have one run to Esentepe to join up with the ones going to Girne, perhaps even just in the summer months. Think that almost all people who live out far east permanently, have cars.

Yes that was what we were told, the dolmus only goes to Nicosia from Tatlisu, we have asked the locals and they all said no buses, shame really.
Hire car for this trip, until the next one.
You never know if more people ask they may change it, to leave from Tatlisu !
Thank you for your comments.

Is it worth asking in Essenteppe to see if they could extend their run, maybe starting with just one out and back to see if there is demand. If one left at 9 and came back in the late afternoon it could open up a full day out for people. I might e mail Essenteppe and Tatlisu to suggest. Any other interested parties, maybe you could do the same and encourage other interested parties. Would it be worth starting a thread on the main board?

I'm sure there used to be a bus running from Tatlisu to Girne, used to often see it with the destinations written on it. Perhaps whoever ran it found there wasn't enough demand.

On my travels to and from Karpaz I’ve seen locals catch a bus just off the island on the main road in Tatlisu.
I feel sure they stand at the bottom of the hill that leads to Tatlisu Council Office

kiplet, I am told this dolmus goes Lefkosa via Gecitkale. The Beli will confirm.

does anyone know the e mail address for Tatlisu and also Essenteppe councils?
I am going to write to both with the suggestion that they create a connection between the two places with a dolmus.
It could create economic and tourist opportunities as well as being useful for me?
Maybe if we can get a letter together we could encourage others to write?
regards
frugal

e mail sent, I used google translate to translate it into Turkish (see below)
if others could send similar requests maybe they will consider it
I am surprised it doesn't exist already at least one out and back a day

I am writing with a suggestion that Tatlisu and Esentepe councils consider a dolmus link between the two villages.
If a bus could leave Tatlisu at 0800 in the morning it could link with the bus to Kyrenia at 0900. A bus coming back to Tatlisu in the late afternoon would also allow for safe return.
This would allow for significant tourist development and economic activity between the two villages and also a demand from people from Kyrenia wishing to come to Tatlisu for a day out.
Tatlisu and the area towards Esentepe has been expanding rapidly, I believe that there would be good demand from tourists and also local people for a service like this .
There has been talk on the kibkom forum for a service like this, the link is below.
Kind regards
