Just make sure that when you hand the car back you get the rental agreement destroyed otherwise you may find that when and if you return to Cyprus you may have some speeding fines that are not yours, as they tend to use peoples names that are not here......fact.

You probably want to keep the rental agreement as it proves you hired the car when you did. The other way of sorting out an issue may be to get your ins and outs, if you can prove you were not in the country..........

Some friends of mine were told of a fine when they arrived in the country. They went to the police station and low and behold they had one from a visit 2 years ago, it was theirs, fair cop. What was interesting was there was a comprehensive papertrail with the fine.

To be fair I have used most local car hire companies with no issues but tried Baspinar last week as they had far newer cars than most for the same money.

All was as agreed and upgrade for no extra charge so I cannot complain about them.

Was this the low season rate?

Are you sure you are fully insured? The usual price is 15 pounds + 3 pounds CDW making 18 pounds the usual sort of price this time of year. I know they are all very busy, a friend tried for a car last week and found nothing available from the reputable companies, so why would they discount when they can get full rate?

In low season I am charged £10 per day (fiesta/focus manual), rising to £14 per day in high season.
This is of course if I use them to transfer from/to Larnaca.

Baspinar car hire have just told me they have increased their transfers (to and from Larnaca) from £30 to £45 each way.

I'm going to try someone else, any recommendations?

Well, I'm using A1 cars for my next trip, £25 each way and car £17 per day.

I tried Bird Rent a Car, but got a confused email back charging me only £82 when I asked for transfers as well as a hire car.

That cant be right can it?

Chris-I used A-one several times when I was in the process of moving out here.

Overall,I found them to be very good, and the bonus is the cheap transfer.

On one occasion they gave me possibly the oldest car on the Island,It really should have been in a museum.

After a good moan on my part they exchanged it for a brand new Fiesta(the car not the soft porn magazine).

Chris...if you use their website (Bird) the booking process is very straightforward!
