Can anyone tell me which currencies they accept at Antalya airport to buy a visa? Is it the same as Istanbul where Sterling is recommended? Also is it still £10 or equivalent?

You can also do it online prior to flying.

it depends on your passport as to what you pay in, if you have a UK passport you pay in sterling but make sure you have the correct note as they don't give change !!

Thanks for all the replies - if the bog standard visa issued at the airport is still £10 then it is sufficient for our needs. There are 4 of us and only plan the one visit to Turkey this year. The visa you buy online is more expensive but covers multiple trips over a 180 day period so worth it if we were planning on more than one trip.

Question is, can you still purchase a visa at the airport for £10? - anyone bought one this way recently?

I think that would have been right back in April. However, visas in Turkey are based on Euro currency. Current going rate for the visa is 15 Euros per person at the airport for 1 entry. At today's rates, that means near enough 13 British pounds. On my last trip to Europe (a month ago) via Istanbul on a transit visa using an EU passport, I had pounds on me and I am sure I paid 10 pounds and few pound coins (which I luckily had on me and they debated whether to accept them or not) and as someone pointed out, they do not have the change for B.P. if you offer them large notes.

I would say be safe and take 15 EU per person for a visa fee - that should get rid of any currency worries or loose change

Thanks for your advice Bigoz. I have checked further and if you are a holder of a UK passport it appears that you must pay in Sterling. Lor51 has confirmed that it was £10 2 weeks ago so I'll go with that and may take some extra sterling notes just in case - I'm pretty sure they won't accept pound coins...

So, Bigoz are you saying you have to pay even to transit in Istanbul Airport. Seems a lot to pay for just an hour on the ground.

You only have to pay for a visa if you leave the airport.

The visa has 10 Pounds written on it (cant find the pound sign on my keyboard) , not Euro or loose change, and that is exactly what I handed over. Visa is valid for 90 days

You do not need to get a visa if you are a transit passenger and are not leaving the airport. I didn't pay any visa fee when I changed planes as a transit passenger the other week.

Try 'alt' and 156 on the numeric keypad.
