TV streaming
Has anyone successfully used a Roku 3 tv streaming box in Kibris? Have a multimax VPN set up on iPad but the Roku box is only recognising a few channels - not programmes like Crackle and BBC iPlayer?

Re: TV streaming
The Roku device is very region specific, even within the device itself as I understand it. So the US Roku has a different 'firmware' from the UK version. This is your first 'problem'.
Assuming you have a 'UK Roku' and not a 'US' one then your next problem is that you will appear to be outside the UK because of your IP address. You can not configure a VPN on the roku directly, nor can you even manually configure DNS on it directly (devices that you can manually configure DNS on have other options). So you would have to have a VPN service that could be configured on a router, itself quite a tricky process to set up but not impossible. So assuming you had a UK Roku and a VPN service configured for the UK on a router, then you should be able to get UK Roku content as if you were in the UK.
As an example of a VPN service that could be configured on a router here is one such example

To actual get this set up is not a simple process however. First you have to buy the RIGHT router. Then you have to replace the routers firmware with the right open source DD-WRT firmware. Then you have to configure the router to use your HMA VPN account and work with your existing internet connection.
A guide to doing this with HMA can be found here.

I would say I have done the above once for someone and it does seem to work fine but it is quite complicated and does involve cost - for the HMA subscription and for the router (if you do not already have a suitable router that is).

Thank you so much for your detailed reply - don't have the technical skill or confidence so I think I will go back to watching DVD's.

The Roku needs to be loaded in the UK and brought out here... then all the UK channels should work. So don't set it up here, set it up in the UK and the box will then be preloaded with the UK channels. If you buy one from Amazon UK and bring it here unloaded it will default to the US channel selection but if you do it right then you will get what you are after.
