I thought Astra 2 E entered service in February 2014. The only satellite due to be launched this year is Astra 2G sometime round Easter.
The signal from Astra 2 E is not as strong as previously but can be received in most European countries. A larger dish may be required but BBC channels are available plus ITV channels. Channel 5 is weaker. I know this as I go to Tenerife, and followed the progress of 2 E. We have all the above channels without internet connection. Cyprus would have lost their signal last Feb not this year. Nothing should change this year

Just put kodi onto your laptop and you will have the latest Movies, TV shows etc from around the world and I am talking about the latest movies in cinema now, all the BBC channels all the news channels, you only have to go into the Kodi web page
http://kodi.tv/introducing-kodi-14/
and all the information is there on how to set it up.
if your laptop has hdmi then you are all set to hook up to your TV,
I have been using Kodi ( formally known as XBMC ) for about 7 years, on my apple tv,
there are lots of android boxes out there that has Kodi installed in them and for around 30 pounds or so they are a bargain, for the ultimate entertainment you cant go wrong with Kodi and its free

Do you have any tech support for your system Smokey? are you a registered company here?
Re: Expat TV system

by DS Expat TV
Yes put Kodi (XBMC) on your laptop and have unreliability nowhere near the same channels live tv but filmon really other live tv is not reliable pvrs are poor, finding your way around the system to do stuff is not for everyone it takes time and if kodi is set up correctly which i have done many times it is still unreliable......Our system is reliable the full sky package plus more remote control so it is like a normal tv system, every day when you switch it on it works not like kodi, not just all the film channels we also provide the latest movies no need to search for repositorys that work sometimes. Kodi is good don't get me wrong but not the same as we are selling. And ours is under £1 a day not much to pay for peace of mind knowing that when you want to watch sky sports in HD or or great channels you can.

Not trying to labour a point smokey but do you have a TRNC limited company and if so what is that company called. I have had my fingers burnt here before with "part time" tv companies, Dopi Digital Supreme etc and wish to avoid that as I am sure others do.
Re: Expat TV system

by DS Expat TV
Yes I work for a trnc company , Dopi system started good but failed dramatically you are right not to get your fingers burned as I did with dopi then many others which I tried, all with no back up so I then tried Digital Supreme who also had problems, then I tried multimax the problems seem to get worse then I heard about Digital supreme upgrading their systems and solving their problems so I gave them a second chance and for over 18 months had a great service so decided to become a reseller for them I have my own customers which I give good service to also I am a qualified programmer therefore understand systems how they work and how to solve problems within a system, I have used many systems from paid card satellites to internet based and Digital supreme have turned a corner, not so easy for them to do here in cyprus as its always going to be a tough journey back, I would not consider being a reseller for a company that was unable to deliver as like most people I need to earn a living here so need to be sure. 18 months on the system installed is still stable and giving a quality service. I hope this answers your questions.
Thanks.

You can watch XBMC on android tv box for no yearly charge. I bought mine from Amazon whilst in the UK for £83 in January. It is absolutely marvellous is completely free, gets world TV including all Sky Sports Channels, Bt Sports, English Horse Racing, Sky Movies AND MORE. Any film can be watched including films not yet released in the Uk and blockbusters currently shown in the Cinemas.
Hundreds of channels more than Sky including every channel shown by Sky.
Worth a look folks, it was invaluable during the bad weather recently.

It is a confusing system, but can be done and you will be able to watch movies and some tv but you need to work on installing some configuration files along with other items to get the best from it, I also set up Kodi with the latest apps at a cost of 100tl, to be honest our DS Expat system is so easy and hassle free. and under a pound a day, check my channel list above. thanks.

I have never had a problem with XBMC ( now Kodi ) it may buffer at start of movie just leave it for a little while and you will be able to play the movie, I have been using it for the past 7 years and wouldn't be without it, Smokey said it was unreliable I have never found this it's the greatest entertainment system out there it cost nothing and you do not instal configuration files, you download addons and put them into the addons folder in Kodi that's if you are using Windows, Linux, or Mac, if you have an Android box or google stick or any other box then this must be configured ( google it ) to install on a PC go to the Kodi website and get all the information on installation and how to configure it, you can watch any movie, any tv show that's ever been made and all the news networks, download superRepo put into your addons folder in Kodi and start Kodi on your PC go to (settings) (addons), get (addons), (superRepo All), video add-ons and install what you want, go back to Get-addons and you have hundreds of addons that you can install, best is Navi-X, 1Channel, Film-on, ice-films, Project Free TV the list just goes on, just remember you have to download the addons there are hundreds out there that will please everyone, look up XBMC addons and you will find them. and to put everyone at ease, Kodi does work all the time, I have never had any down time with Kodi

Hi after checking the Mag250 box is not able to store all the features required by our system. Sorry about that and our boxes cost £150 one off payment then the box is yours to use anywhere. Having said that we can offer you £50 off the price of a new box in exchange for your old box. Therefore the price for one years subscription including the new box would be £400 and then £300 every year after.

There appears to be two conversations on this thread. One conversation seems to be around downloading from the Internet and then using this to watch movies/programmes for free. The other conversation started by smokey seems to be around the sales of some hardware to receive movies/programmes for free.
Not going to get involved in which is the better option and as far as going onto the Internet and downloading something for free is concerned that is personal choice. If it's free and does not deliver then really it's just a case of lesson learnt and move on.
If however you are parting for money then customers do have the right to know that the equipment is fit for purpose, they are buying from a reputable company, customers are satisfied etc.
Therefore smokey please provide full details of your company and confirm that both you and they are operating within the law. This will then give prospective customers the opportunity to then make an informed decision.
Thanks

Wearing two hats here - one as me and the other as a Mod.
1. Me. What exactly is b eing offered here. We have Digiturk and years ago b ought some boxes and a dish which was giving us channels for all over the world, and then suddenly one by one they disappeared as they were scrambled. Total waste of money. So have not investigated any other system. So could someone clarify what exactly is being offered. There is a long list of programmes you list Smokey, but might they disappear or is this indeed as legal as it can be out here in TRNC, and is any money I spent guarantted not to be wasted.
2. As a Mod. Some of these comments are bordering on the insulting, so pleas,e if any business wants customers through this forum, please be polite, and answer the questions. Where oh where is your office - a reference to Facebook is not necessarily enough. Smokey you say you have a business here, and then state you are working for a company. Please, in order to have kibKomers feel safe with you could you give details of where people could come and see you at Digital Supreme, and talk face to face and perhaps have the system explained fully, again , face to face.
Thanks on both counts.

Smokey,Given your brusque attitude in your replys to some of the post on here I am at a loss as to how you personally would make any money as I would think most people would not wish to entrust their money with someone with your attitude. Most businesses fail because of poor customer service. If you are employed by Digital Supreme and I was the owner of that company I would be looking seriously at staff training.

The cost for the "box" is £150. Annual subscription £300. Total year 1 is £450. This is a lot of money to part with and I as a potential customer would want a lot more information on the system than has currently been given. A Facebook link is not enough in my opinion.
What guarantee is in place should box fail to work?
What back up services are offered I.e for customers to call if service not working.
Where are the business offices?
What are the service level agreements in place to resolve problems (timescales, refunds etc)
List of satisfied customers who are happy to recommend the system
Instructions for install
How to return faulty goods, refund arrangements etc
Copy of agreement contract?
These are just a few questions that I as a potential customer would need answering before parting with my money.

Smokey,
Please note I have deleted your posting on the main forum and the business forum which essentially is a repeat of what has already been posted on this thread.
As moderators we will not accept multi posts advertising the same services or businesses in different forums. This is a last warning.
Whilst I understand you may be trying to advertise your business, please note that you really should be looking to answer the questions that have been put to you. I would also advise that as has already been suggested to you, that you look to place a proper business advertisement via the forum. Your donation will help the upkeep and maintenance of this site. It is a simple process which all moderators would be pleased to help you with. Once we receive the information required and are happy then your advert can be put in place.

Some questions asked:
What guarantee is in place should box fail to work?
If a box should fail to work a replacement will be installed within one working day.
What back up services are offered I.e for customers to call if service not working.
We offer a 24 hour backup service where customers can call with any problems, most problems can be fixed online but in cases where hardware needs attention this will be corrected the same day within normal working hours or next working day.
Where are the business offices?
Our business offices are at Kılıç Aslan Sokak, Lapta - Kyrenia
Instructions for install.
No install needed as our box is plug and play technology
How to return faulty goods, refund arrangements etc.
Set Box and Subscriptions
If your product is faulty and you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, within seven days from the purchase date, we will fully refund the cost of your subscription. (faulty goods will be replaced within one working day.)
Copy of agreement contract?
A copy of agreement contract will be given on purchase, and one held in the office.
