A gut full of NTV today

Today I received an email to renew my subscription which I am glad to do...... but is it simplistic? Of course not this is TRNC

The NTV site demands payment by paypal or give me a ring ( which is novel) Anyway spent 2 hours banging my details into paypal and to be honest what a load of old garbage as their website keeps coming up with paypal is experiencing difficulties....I know how they feel

So question for NTV..... why no option to pay by debit card without the need of paypal which doesnt work?

Secondly I would love to watch England vs Scotland on ITV 1 but what lousy reception and fragmented viewing, pathetic to be honest
and this is where I get really confused about addressing the problem.......is this a Multimax problem or a NTV problem? I think I may be able to guess who may answer this query in any case. Please can I get what I pay for?

I must admit I am a little concerned about renewing when mine is due in November. When I took out the contract I paid for the full year in sterling. I am English so still use sterling but I live here so I also use Lira. Why am I being asked to pay in Euro's for 30 days service. I like to keep things simple so I would like to pay yearly either in Sterling or Lira. Why is this so hard to do? I live 42 km from Girne and the local office at Esentepe has closed. I do not go into Girne every month only when I need to so what options are open to me? I cannot believe that an organisation would not like to recieve it's money a year up front but welcome payments every 30 days. Totaly confused
As I got older I congratulated myself on my tolerance..... Now I realise I just don't give a "ooops"

I am sorry for your bad experience but it looks like your problem was with paypal but not NTV itself.

Two main reasons why we dont accept credit cards online ourselves; 1) Banks in here are reluctant to give us online processing rights, we are already negotitating, but they are talking about rather high comission rates and upto 4 months of blockage of all payments before release. 2) it is always safer to use paypal because you dont have to enter your card number everytime, and you dont have to give your CC number, until our accounting department is better equipped, we do not want to take responsibility of handling customer credit card details ourselves.

As for the England and Scotland game, it is very bad that we had a big issue with our system in general right before the game, and it has lasted until about 30th minute. Unfortunately, we cannot choose when the problems will happen ahead of time, we can only work on to fix them as quickly as possible, which we did. This was an NTV problem.

We have already assessed the situation, and we have already implementing precautions so that this type of issue does not repeat itself.

Mick,
NTV is a multinational company and because our customer base is mainly European, we chose to use it as the medium of currency for our system.

You are always welcome to pay in any currency, either on paypal or by cash using daily exchange rates

You can always pay for 3, 6, 12 months of service, you are not forced to pay only one month at a time. You can do this on website yourself as well as in our offices.

So who do we ask for compensation.

We also paid in full upfront.
I don't want to hear whose fault it is I want the service I was promised.
I have to keep unplugging the system to reboot it
I keep getting a message saying file missing
It jumps from a programme to the menu
One day I can get a channel the next day I cannot.

Anybody else with the same issues

Lets see on Saturday when I want to watch Man Utd V Swansea. Fingers crossed.

We have had the system about 5 months. Initially we had problems, but to be fair Multimax did sort it. I knew the system was not perfect when I got it but what is in this country? Yes, now and then it goes pear shaped but overall pretty pleased. What I do admire is that Kemal will try and update the board if the system does go belly up, that does help.

Snickers

you are not alone and I am forever rebooting the system and getting file missing triangles..... it is TRNC and it is probably the best we are going to get but wouldn't it be nice to know or receive explanation as to why this happens and if there is a remedy

As for Paypal its a damn nightmare and no matter what I do I cannot link my bank account or debit cards, it keeps coming up with an error message that Paypal is experiencing difficulties....... so my subscription runs out today, I cant use Paypal so is my only option to do a 40 km round trip to get to a multimax office....... thats really cost effective I dont think with the price of fuel......any suggestions Kemal please?

Without wanting to sound boring...... I have just discovered that if you do manage to link your credit or debit card to Paypal and that is a function that I cannot get to work but please be informed of the following extracted from the Paypal website "If you use your credit or debit card, there is a fee of 3.4% " That is quite a chunk on the subscription fees

Paypal is not good value for money nor very convenient.

You can pay with a credit or debit card via paypal without having to have a paypal account. The fees charged by paypal for processing the transaction are charged to the person receiving the money not the person paying it and are similar or less than those charged by banks when taking a credit card payment in the office. So for example if you pay for NTV UK package for Mag 250 at 34 euros then 34 euros is what is charged to your credit card or deibt card. You may get a foreign transaction fee and a poor exchange rate if your credit / debit card is not a euro one, which is where there is an advantage in having a paypal account linked to your credit card. In this case paypal will do the currency conversion at generally better rates than your credit card company and then will bill your credit card in the equivalent in UK sterling, thus avoiding a foreign currency transaction fee from the credit card company.

Hope this makes sense and is of use ?

Try OSN tv system if your looking for a quality system that is as near to SKY system as you can get here in Cyprus, ive had mine 2 years now and soon to be my 3rd year subscription. No freezing,no on and off.

It is there 100% of the time and no need to incur huge phone bills complaining about the system ! Small 90cm dish no huge woks needed and no internet connection needed either.
