When we bought our mobile PAYG phones about eight years ago we had to produce passports and fill in forms for these. I have just been into Turcell office to check and it appears that they are already registered, so no need to register again.

In response to an SMS from Turkcell, I sent a text stating first and second name, ID number and type of ID (passport in my case) to 1234. Got an immediate response that phone now registered.

What about Telsim?? My husband's Telsim phone did not get a message. Also I checked their webpage and found nothing there. I might have missed it as they do not have any English on there.

Tried to register a (spare/holiday use) sim card, without credit.
Would not register.
We will call into Turkcell, to find out if we can register it,
to keep it "live" for future use.
