No joy in "Mobile Alley" Navek and the phone already has SD card so still looking for someone / somewhere who can increase internal memory for me.

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Ace 5830i. The SD card has 3.4 GB free but the internal memory has only 14MB left. The rest has been taken up by the apps which are not movable to the SD card. This is a common issue with this phone and as there isn't enough internal memory the phone won't accept texts or allow me to download other apps. Grrrrr!

It sounds to me as though you need to have a cull of apps that you don't really need, because if the 'phone was designed with only a small amount of internal memory, that's what you're stuck with - I don't know what you can do to increase it

There are ways Keith to increase memory on this particular model. Lots of info online but I don't feel confident enough to try them which is why I'm asking if anyone knows of someone who may be able to do it for me.

I'll send prayers to the Smart Fone Gods.

Had a look at the specifications online.
The internal memory, 158mb, seems low,
for what might be needed, these days.
Not sure what you can do,
As Keith says, "cull of apps" seems your best option.
Only other option is to upgrade your phone.

The phone I use has 16gb internal memory
Plus 32gb on SD card
And it's almost 2 years old.
Still got 2.82gb available.
And it's full of apps.

I use Avast Cleanup on mine, no problems, and FREE.
Used this app from day one
as a last resort, you could try it...

Hi johnerebus, I did a quick Google search, and found the following link: http://www.android.gs/increase-galaxy-a ... al-memory/ which seems to refer to the procedure that you mentioned - you may well have found other links with similar suggestions.

It seems that the idea is to format an external card in such a way as to 'fool' the 'phone into using the external card as 'internal memory' - quite a neat trick if it works!

I don't know anyone from personal experience, but I would think that any of the 'phone shops in Girne (always assuming that you're in that area!) would either be able to do it, or would know someone who could.

There is a 'phone repair workshop down the street where most of the 'phone shops congregate - but I can't give directions as I'm hazy on its exact location. You probably know the street that I mean, Canbulat Sokak here - it's on the right, heading down from the Girne Belediyesi office

I would print out one of the guides on 'How to' and take it along to one of the 'phone shops, so that they will be able to see just what it is that you're trying to explain - and ask for help.

I would be really interested to know if the trick works, as I have a couple of old 'phones that are a bit light on internal memory, and it would be nice to revitalize them!
