Looking for advice on the best U.K. Phone network that works in the TRNC. I currently have a phone on EE Network and it does not connect here. Told by Turkcell that they do not have a contract with EE or Orange.
What do you use and which is best ?
Thank you in advance of all your informative answers

I have a deal with Vodafone they cover a lot of countries abroad within my UK deal I can ring all TRNC numbers plus the other countries whilst outside the UK within my deal. I have unlimited texts & mins, 4Gb Data in UK & 2 Gb when out of country. As a Vodafone customer and just using sim this deal cost is £16.50 per month.

Oliver, you are using your phone outside TRNC., are you also able to make calls from it when you are in TRNC? The problem a lot of us are having is using our English phones (for various reasons) whilst in TRNC. Suddenly we can't use them anymore, and if going South can't use them to phone back to TRNC, which is a worry if you should break down in the South. If O2 is the answer then will change, is anyone else ok with O2 here?

We use Three network which over the years has been ok occasionally texts dont go until we move down the mountain a bit
Our place is a bit of a blind spot
Calls out are ok and it has worked fine all over the South and North
One feature is the Feel at home that you can use in the South Not North which allows you to phone home as part of your UK package at no extra cost

Hi Stella
Re your query. In September last year I used my Vodafone package whilst in TRNC rang back to UK & Ireland and booked all restaurants etc whilst in TRNC as part of my package, but due to comments regarding new tax in TRNC I am not sure if it will be OK this year? I will keep my fingers crossed.

Oliver, last September and for the previous 10 years I have used my Orange English phone here with no problems, then in October it suddenly stopped working and other people seem to have the same problem. Turkcell say they do not have an arrangement with them , so not sure if your's will still work here, but fingers crossed for you.

Hi. For 9 years I have had no problems using my Orange English simcard in an old Turkish phone I had. Lo and behold last year that came to an end and despite visits to Turkcell (who blame it on Orange), I can no longer use in in the North. As soon as I go over to the South or Turkey and UK it works again. Spoke to Orange today who say there is no reason it should not work as I have full roaming facility but it is obviously Turkcell TRNC who are not making their network available. Looks like I will have to change to O2 if that works.
