Well folks, we went along, to the "Bereket restaurant" last night with some friends a party of 7 people.

I have never seen so much food in all my life and it was excellent, value for money 10/10. One of the very, very best mezie I have had in all my time (10years) in Cyprus. This place will be the top of my hit list for the future.

I do not normally recommend restaurants to anyone as "food and dining out" is a very subjective thing, as they say " one mans meat is another mans poison"

The best of luck to the owner of Bereket Restaurant, all his very hard working staff for the future success of this eatery...........

Just returned from a visit to this restaurant, on the above recommendation. The food was really lovely, well cooked, good sized portions and value for money. The waiter was excellent, very attentive and helpful. The only downside was that other diners were allowed to smoke in the inside, enclosed area and there was an elderly man (owner?) smoking in the kitchen!!!! There is a 'no smoking' sign on the window so I can't understand why this was allowed. We will go back to see if this changes but may be our last visit So sad as this venue has changed hands so often and the current owners have clearly put a lot of thought and money into this venture.

I do agree about the no smoking, but am unlikely to go, as no one has told me yet where it is!!!

Bereket is on the corner of the road between the two veggie stalls and next to the Chemist on the main Alsancak/Lapta road. Drive past the Golden Lady on your way to Lapta and it is just there, opposite the road towards the local beach and rugby ground.
Hope these directions help a little

Whilst I am pleased you had a good experience muppet, I have to say our experience was completely the opposite

We ordered 2 mixed grills and expected 2 meals. The food came out on one platter and mainly consisted of bread, green peppers and couscous with the odd piece of meat here and there. Between two of us (not each) we had one sausage type thing which was disgusting, about 6 chicken wings, three kofte, 2 lame excuses for lamb chops, and one skewer of chicken pieces.

Almost 70 TL !!

Will never go back !!

Thanks for the directions found it OK. ATT you were unlucky. Lunch time today asked for a Meze and kofta. Meze consisted of 8 dishes that I can remember, a large bowl of salad. A large pitta type bread then a small pizza, which thank God we didn't eat. A plate with grilled Helim and mushrooms. Then the kofta with chips, tomatoes, chillis. Talk about stuffed, we were. All this with 4 alcoholic drinks and 2 coffees, including tip ,90 tl for 2!!!!
Regarding the posting re smoking. I clarified this ,officially smoking is forbidden in the actual restaurant. The part that is covered in, at the moment is strictly classified as "outside" and so smoking is allowed there

I have been to the bereket on 3 or 4 occassions and although the food is alway lovely and free starters flow, the service or rather the poor waiter with the ponytail is overworked and left to it. If you are not in a rush enjoy yourself. If you are than go there when you have ample time to chill out and just chat until your food arrives, it's worth it!

This situation regarding smoking is one which makes me smile I have to say. When you come, as a foreigner, to live here you must surely have noticed that a large number of Cypriots smoke. There are a handful of restaurants here that mostly cater to ex-pats. The rest of them depend largely upon their Turkish Cypriot customers which is as it should be. If these restaurants can arrange their premises so that they have an area for smokers then, of course, they are going to do this. The idea that they should all pander to a few rabid anti smoking foreigners is not something that they are likely to take into consideration. Indeed why should they? Their main business comes from the locals.
