Re: Effendi restaurant
Very glad to hear that your “neighbour had an
excellent meal at efendi.”, I am a bit confused about the comment “they had to pay in sterling, lira was not acceptable”
Because of the recent spectacular increase of the Turkish Lira rate, we at Efendis have had to make a difficult business decision to re - price our menu in Sterling, a number of our expenses are payable in Sterling and we can no longer operate with such a high difference in our income and out goings.
When invoicing our customers, we total the bill in sterling and
convert to turkish lira and put both the sterling price and the current turkish lira price. The customer then has and option to pay either. Never have we insisted that the customer pay in sterling, and tell people lira was not acceptable.
It is not our intention to offend anyone with this pricing policy and we have had virtually no reaction to it, we will expect some but unfortunately these are the commercial realities of business life in this current economic situation.
Efendi have always striven to be a high standard up market venue, there are costs attached to this and to maintain these standards we have had to adjust our pricing accordingly.
This comment, “ nieighbour had and excellent meal at efendi” reminds me of the old war time joke. The message sent was “send reinforcements we are going to advance,” It turned up at the generals office as “ Send three and four pence, we are going to a dance”
Perhaps your neighbour would like to call me directly on 0542 884 7417 to clear up this matter. Kind Regards Andy Radford Efendi Restaurant

Re: Effendi restaurant
Me and my fiancé go to efendi restaurant all the time, we except the prices on the menu are in sterling but most food suppliers to restaurants want to be paid in sterling like many supermarket suppliers and rental properties.
Not once have we been told at efendi's that we HAVE to pay with pounds, our bill always states the price in turkish lira and pounds, worth every penny the food & staff are excellent.

We have eaten at a Efendi a number of times and recently. The bill is calculated in both Sterling and Lira and you can pay in either.I wouldn't be out off either way because the food is beautiful.

Re: Effendi restaurant
I would have thought that now the Lira has settled around the 3.5/3.6 area then it's totally unnecessary, but if the food is good and diners don't mind

Re: Effendi restaurant
Well done Efendi's I personally think this is an excellent idea, at the end of the day the Lira exchange rate is going to drop, it is far too high, and we all know that this is tough times, when improvements happen prices are not going to drop accordingly are they, but yours will, so well done for being so honest, and long may your business continue to succeed, and I have sampled your food on a numer of occassions and give you five stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Effendi restaurant
It is in the "Old Turkish Quarter" Behind the Fire station and Telecom dept, one way of getting there depending where you are coming from is... at the Colony roundabout in central Girne turn towards the Law Courts or Karakum/Catalkoy direction, then first right, just up there is the KAR shop and then a Girne Bele Car park on your right hand side (which is behind The House) park there and walk 150 yds further up and at the junction it is on your right side, once you know where it is there are a myriad of ways to get there! enjoy!
