I too was pleased with my Sunday Roast there on Mothering Sunday.
A pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, great food (far too much of it!).
The service was a little slow, however, it was jammed packed and people were waiting for tables.
Well done Acmenya

I have been going there for the last 12 years and it such a welcoming environment with super staff all lead by the owner Ali. I think it is only in the winter that they have one day off which is probably a Monday, but perhaps that has changed.
I would endorse all of the sentiments.
Go and test it out - they do have a full range menu and choices for all, with Cypriot evenings and entertainment in a most convivial setting. Enjoy!

Wallysend. It's in alsancak, left at the golden lady statue. then after about 50m there is a left turn by the corner bar so you are heading towards the mountains. it's about 300m up that road on the right

Are they still serving their roasts on Sundays? We went there a few weeks back and the place looked empty so we didn't go in.

We went there last Sunday (15th June) and yes, they are still serving their 20tl 3 course Sunday lunch. All the tables are outside now and it was busy. Excellent value.

Saturday nights too are great fun - Cypriot night with lots of local meze and of course the full menu if you don't fancy meze. All set within a great welcoming and 'live' atmosphere plus live music for all to enjoy!
Try it out and see what you think -but in summer best to book as loads of local folks to there too.
cheers

My wife and I, plus friends, went to Acmenya Restaurant about 3 weeks ago and I have to say that the Sunday lunch was, by far, the worst meal we have had for many a day and certainly not worth the drive from Catalkoy. In my opinion, it was a cross between canteen and holiday camp food. The starter consisted of either a dubious prawn cocktail in a vivid pink, glutinous sauce, or a very uninspiring, tasteless soup. The main course was a choice of 3 different meats, all tasteless and vegetables, which were, either frozen, or past their "sell by" date. The desserts were passable, but nothing to "write home about", but the "Highlight" of the meal was bottles of free Cyprus brandy, which you needed to cleanse the mouth!! Take my advice and don't waste your money. Boots

Went to Acmenya last night and as usual had a super time with delicious food, great staff and live music - we even were given pashminas when the temp dropped a bit.
My family and friends over the years have always really enjoyed their visits to this very welcoming restaurant.

Have had a couple of Sunday dinners there lately and enjoyed them very much. I would grant you it isn't like my wife makes, nowhere is, but absolutely fantastic value for money. The desserts are to die for and there is such a lot of variety.
We have also been midweek and the food was excellent with a very varied menu. Look forward to the next visit.
Ps forgot to mention, the staff were very friendly as well.

Well Boots, All I can say you must have been very late going to Acmenya for Sunday lunch, you need to be there between 1& 2 to enjoy the choices of the sweet trolley, been today sweet trolley exceptional by any standards 12 different ones as much as you can eat.
Yes the Prawn cocktail is in a pink sauce prob 1000 island off the shelf, mushroom soup today was superb, pate is also very good,
Choice of beef, Pork, Chicken, or you can have a mix of two, 5 different veg, maybe frozen Brocc,Carrot,Cauli, sprout, but hey tell me where you get 5 courses for 20tl, And always very friendly.
O.K its not Al la carte, but excellant value you will pay a lot more for a lot less 25tl 2 courses. but if you go late past 2/3pm expect sweet trolley to be reduced.
So I think you have been unfair to them as there are so many good blogs on this site.
And no I am not anything to do with Acmenya
Suggest you try Merit Royal 80tl but fantastic.
