Great I'll give it a blast. I've just knocked up some pork and prawn Sui-mai,having them for a starter tonight. I love Chinese food.

Deniz1 - yes I am sure it will be the same couple and their food was so, so good. It was a shame when they closed as there were no other establishments who cooked such good Chinese food. We will give them a try when we are out that way.

Are these available here - preferably in Girne or West of?
They don't look too difficult to make, if not.

Thanks all I really liked their food. I will have to get an insulated bag for a take away as it would be cold time I got home.

I believe that they have come to an agreement with the O'live bar, next door, allowing takeaways to be eaten there.

Are they the people who used to do frozen take aways at a market outside a restaurant(sorry forgotten the name) in Catalkoy? Any chance they might be persuaded to take a stall at the Catalkoy Lemar for the benefit of those living East of Girne?

Greg and Xi are great people who do great food we first sampled the Chinese from them in 2006 when they had a place in the Turkish quarter in Girne. Has to be the best.
great news you have opened a take away cannot wait to try it...all the very very best to you both..

Perhaps, if they get plenty of support, they will open one in the East side.
Use it or lose it.

Perhaps if they don't get plenty of support then they will move to the East side - lol. A Chinese that is'nt the salty Dragon would be a big bonus as its a long way to China House but worth the trip through the traffic even for a take away! Then again we used to drive for 25 mins to get a decent curry in the UK so nothing lost.
Good luck to you and I hope you have lots of custom.

Oh Keith, that's not fair! Now I am drooling!
An outlet in Ozankoy would be brilliant, but probably too much to hope for. Lemar would be good.
Some of us don't have transport, or if we have small cars are being driven off the road (particularly at night) by large bully vehicles. and East of Girne seems to be becoming a deprived area.

I know it says they open at 4pm but just a note to everyone, they close at 9pm (as per the ad in the paper).
Don't want anyone of you racing down there too late!!

For now at least, and particularly if you are some distance away, you would be well advised to telephone an order in advance. I went yesterday at 17:40 and the earliest they could prepare my meal (a simple order for 1 person) was 20:15. They were snowed under with orders. As I was due to meet friends at 20:00 I went without.
Keith's post shows the menu and the phone no is in the first message.
Although disappointed in this instance, I was a regular customer of theirs at Lambousa and I am delighted for them and hope it remains such a success.

JBA. Did they really expect you to wait over 2 hours?
Re: New Chinese Takeaway

They didn't expect anything. They explained and apologised. And it clearly indicates that the food is freshly cooked which is good. My post wasn't a criticism - I was simply trying to help people like Deniz1 and others who might venture over from the East side.
I can understand how hard it must be on a first night - how could they possibly assess the level of business they might expect? They could have put on more staff and then if the business isn't there they go bust trying to pay the wages. That's true even now - it is a new business, many want to try it and probably the level of business will drop off.
For me it is not a problem - they are nice people, their food is great, they are an asset to Alsancak and I will certainly go again. Give them a little time and I am sure they will get it sorted.

For the benefit of those of us who cant get to the West side (it beginning to feel like there are TWO borders in Cyprus!) I should be very grateful if snd or anyone else hears more about the new Chinese outlet in Karakum would post here.

Hi Ragged Robin, I'm unsure whether this has any relevance at all. In the Dec issue of What's on Where in the midst of an advertisement for a totally different business which operate in both Catalkoy & Alsancak was this announcement." Mandarin Oriental opening soon Thai, Chinese, Sushi Restaurant "
Back to The Green Lotus. As someone who has enjoyed many of Greg & Xi's delicious meals collected from Lambrusco . I am delighted to know they've opened up a takeaway outlet.
Do I understand correctly that they will be open from Mon to Frid from 4pm.
This would be great no longer restricting us to Saturday mornings.

I am still drooling!
The one that used to be at the market in Catalköy provided frozen take away meals (which were amazingly good, for frozen) which overcame both the problems of opening times and long waits to be served,
