Catalkoy new restaurant.

Driving past the old Lemon Tree restaurant, that turned into a kebab restaurant, this morning I notice there is a new name and sign.
Panta (I think, I was driving.) was the new name and the sign says Thai, Japanese and Chinese restaurant.
Will have to investigate when it opens.
It's opposite Supreme for those who are not sure of the location.

You may have to wait a while before it opens, the problem is the access and parking at the moment because of the water pipe installation all along the main road and the new owner wants to have the access repaired before he opens.

I went in to Panta today (Saturday) to have a look at the menu. The very polite oriental gentleman advised that the menus were being printed and would be ready for the opening in 'about' 2 weeks time. He also said that they would have regular (possibly daily!) cocktail hours in the evening, during which time all cocktails would be free!!! I asked him if he realised that once this information was known in the Brit expat community, he would soon have all his profits wiped out. He smiled and said he would see how it goes.

I wish them luck, as it would be nice to have a Japanese/Chinese/Thai restaurant to augment the Bo Thai, on our side of Girne.

Will keep our eyes peeled for any sign that the opening is imminent.

Let's hope for his business that something was lost in translation and that free cocktails would be available only for those ordering food!

I am not an expert but have had Japanese food in İstanbul years ago. They have beautiful various vegetable tempura, this can also be prawns with a sauce for dipping, which is my favourite. Yakitori which is skewered chicken and mushrooms to dip in a sauce and Sukiyaki which is steak, vegetables and a sauce. these are to name only a few. I am sure some dishes similar to these would be served at the Mandarin. Hope to try it out soon.

Too close to Bo Thai.....

Maybe they need a bit of competition to keep the standard up.

A lot of places get complacent if they think they have a monopoly. IMHO
