Past Freddy's on the right heading towards the Lapta strip from Girne. It's the third of four fairly new and resplendent shop fronts, laying back from the road. Each shop has a pantheon-like apex to it (I think!).

Can't say that I enjoyed my food there. The portions were small-ish compared to pricing. And the taste itself wasn't quite what I am used to when they say "Chinese". I can pretty much whip up at home a dish similar to what I had there with help of the Blue Dragon sauce, so why go at all then? I find Dynasty at the Airport Mall a much better option both taste and moneywise. But then again, it's only my humble opinion based on comparrisson of both places.

I'm afraid I have to agree with ana_banana on this one. I picked up a takeaway a few weeks ago from the Green Lotus. I hadn't been before (to the restaurant or takeaway) so I was very much looking forward to trying the food and supporting a local business. However I was disappointed with the portion size, me and my husband got two starters, two mains, rice and vegetable noodles and were still hungry after eating. The flavour of one of the dishes was not good and to me the dish did not seem fresh at all. Having been to the Chinese along the Karaoglanoglu road and been extremely impressed I expected something of similar flavour and value. It seems to me that those who eat in seem to get better food than those who takeaway.

I think it's all about two things, what we choose and what we're used to. We have used The Green Lotus on a regular basis before it moved and having found the dishes we liked the best, can't fault it. Havent been to the restaurant since it moved, but have no reason to think it won't still be great.

We don't like the food in the one in Karaolanoglu, so it is a lot to do with personal taste.

If I fancy a Chinese i'm afraid i'm not going to drive all the way to the airport mall no matter how good it is.

Having used the takeaway often I could not fault it always fresh (that's why you wait) as regards portion size we always had enough left over for the next day. As regards Chinese house very disappointed 8 of us each persons food came out separately meaning the first one were cold 50 % were not good and the final insult was they overcharged by a large margin. We were in at 19.30 before anyone else. Best Chinese in my opinion is the elexus.

Still feeling blessed and have also been to Damascus, but I meant I felt blessed because I have such a lovely place that serves such wonderful food and has such pleasant staff. So refreshing.

I think maybe I have been unlucky then, to be honest I didn't really have to wait for the takeaway I was there maximum 10 minutes and I didn't order ahead which is why I still think maybe I have not received completely fresh food.

I will definitely try the Elexus hotel now you have recommended it.

Gozoa, I've tried both takeaway and restaurant - pretty much same taste and quality. So far, we've eaten at Green Lotus, Dynasty, Dragon, and China House. The last two offer great atmosphere and service, however the price is completely off the charts. They could easily reduce it by 30% and still have their profit. It looks like they are trying to compensate for the lack of customers and fancy renovation. Dynasty is definitely my #1 choice from the list, but as mentioned by somebody earlier, it is a rather long drive. Don't think I will ever go to Green Lotus again. Gave it a chance twice and both times wasn't impressed.

I think The Red Lion in Alsancak is about the best there is around here - Chinese, Thai, Sushi and Indian. Reasonably priced and all meals individually cooked. Not a huge menu considering how many different cuisines they cater for but I think that is a good thing. Don't know if they do take away though.

Terry2366, Airport Mall's food court. The mall is at the Ercan-Lefkosa-Famagusta junction.

I went last Friday for a takeaway it was 19.05 and my order was refused because they stop takeaways at 19,00, not everyone wants a takeaway before 7 o'clock in the evening. Also the prices of meals had risen by 20% and the side dishes by 30%. Not good customer service as I dont understand why I can get served if I eat in but not if I takeaway, I wont be using them in future,

Looked forward to trying this much talked about new Chinese the only thing Chinese about it was the Ironwork around the eating area. This is not Chinese food as we know it my husband makes better. Road noise and dust did not help there are so many nice places to eat in stunning surroundings. So sitting on a main rd. eating second rate food does not appeal to us. First and last visit.

Both myself and my partner who is an ex professional chef who has in the past worked at various top London restaurants and catering companies are fans of their food, when they were doing it as 'self re heat' from Lambousa Market and then as takeaway and now as a restaurant. Each to their own I guess.

Agree with Erol. The food is super. When they were at Lambousa market would regularly order.
Pleasant morning wandering round the market collect our order, have lunch in the Kervan bar then home with our Chinese meal for the evening.
Bit of a trek from Esentepe for a takeaway or indeed an evening meal. Really wish they were a bit closer to the East side. XII's Chinese food has spoiled me for any other. Know nothing about authenticity of Chinese cuisine only know we really loved it, and were never disappointed.

I agree fully with Bonnie and could not have put it better myself. Each to their own; it would be a dull world if we all liked/disliked the same things.

My husband won't go anywhere else and we have tried a few Chinese restaurants on the island! He loves the food at the Green Lotus and so do I.

Super food and service but why do some have to park immediately in front of the ironwork about a metre where people are eating.

Because they are LAZY GITS !

I'm surprised that 'drive in cinemas', and 'drive through takeaways' haven't caught on here, given the reluctance of people to walk more than a few inches, I would have thought that they'd go down a treat!
