It is the LAW. Came into operation January last year, if I remember correctly. No smoking inside, but you may outside. I could quote chapter and verse of this, but just to make sure you don't get into trouble, keep lady Nicotine in your pocket until you get outside. Of course maybe you are querying this because you have seen someone smoking inside - that should be reported to the police, but you would not be very popular.

Well there is supposed to be "No Smoking" in TRNC eating places, Bars. Shops.

But in some places they don't seem to care or bother. I believe there are big fines for flouting the No Smoking rule.

As Marions said it is against the law to smoke in any TRNC restaurant or bar.

Yes there are some that flout the law , and some may suggest some that do.................but be mindful that not only can the person smoking be fined but the owner risks it as well. I think in some cases the police have made the establishment close for a period.

Not 100% sure how the law stands if a restaurant has tables outside. Maybe Marion knows the answer to that part?

tried many resturants in trnc and all that i have been to are no smoking, being a smoker myself i still wouldnt appreciate someone smoking on the next table whilst i was eating my food. i still think the smokers are being persicutated in a way smokers are the minority now. i see no reason why there cant be a seperate room for smokers just like years ago as in a smug. what do you think?

hey looseboots as I understand the law, restaurants may provide an outside area where clients can smoke that is O.K. It is the closed in rooms where it is not allowed. and before smokers think they are being victimised, just remember that in the summertime when we all want to eat outside, the smokers ocme into their own, and we non smokers are penalised by having puffing billies on the next table. so no one is really being more oppressed than any others. You win a few you lose a few.

and i used to smoke and know what an addictin to Lady Nicotine is like.
so summarise, smoking is a confined space is subject to 'punishment' - heavier for the restauranteur than the actual smoker, and smokming outside is fine (as is having my dog!)
