Young Akita Dog Needs New Home-Success -Thank you Kemal

I have mentioned this beautiful dog before in my posts. He belongs to a Cypriot neighbour who was going to put him in a small cage. Instead, he moved into my garden and I have been looking after him, but he is just too much for me. He is 9 months old, very affectionate, house trained, and knows basic commands including sitting and waiting for his food until I say he can have it, and he gets on with other dogs, but not cats.(I have had him "done") The problem is I am well into my 60's with a bad back, and he is a big strong dog who needs more exercise than I can give him, plus I have never had or wanted a dog.(I'm a cat person) My neighbours have finally agreed I can look for another home for him. Akita's, are great family dogs, very loyal, like to be inside and outside, but not outside all the time, and of course like most dogs, loves to play fetch(despite the internet saying they don't, mine does). Someone gave him to my neighbours eldest son in a pub one night 3 months ago, and since then he's ignored it, but it's taken me this long to persuade them to find a proper home for him. I know there are so many dogs looking for homes, but I am desperate, as I just can't carry on looking after him. If anyone is interested, I live mountainside in Lapta, please call me on 0533 842 7204. Stella

I know there are a lot of dogs out their looking for homes, but what do you do when you can't keep a dog that you have tried to help, but find it's beyond your abilities. I truly can't cope and am despairing.

Wonderful, wonderful news. Ice has now found a fantastic new home with Kemal and his beautiful dog Max. Max and Ice took to each other immediately and had great fun playing in the garden getting to know each other, and equally brilliant, Kemal and Ice took to each other. How lucky is Ice to have found Kemal, and I am so grateful to Kemal giving Ice a loving home, he is a beautiful dog and I know he will settle and be happy. I will miss him, but know he is in the right place. Once again this forum has been great, so a huge thank you. Stella

I remember video of Max when he found his new home. He looked very happy in the pool. So glad Ice is to have a new home. I am sure he will also be very happy with Kemal as well. Another doggy success story for Kibkom.

What wonderful pictures, but of course set me off again, but am so glad he is settling in, I just want him to be happy, well looked after and be a member of a pack. It's fantastic the way he and Max took to each other, I used to think Ice was big, but compared to Max, he looks small. Thanks again for the pictures, and he really does like to stand up and look out of the window. I gave up with dusting my window sills, Thank you again for posting those pictures, I have been worrying how he was settling in, and was going to wait until this evening to call you. xx

Just for the info., Ice does not appear to be an Akita! More like a Samoyed x Husky. Probably for the best, as pure Akitas need skilled handling as somebody said earlier. So glad the two dogs are so happy.

Hippocampus is correct!
Just been to the vet for checkup and to start injections and she also thinks Ice is either Samoyed or samoyed x akita/husky mix.
I was just about to call Stella to ask for my money back but Max has talked me out of it

When given to the boy upstairs, he was told Ice was a Husky, but when I took him to the vets, was told he was 80 to 90% Akita, so I just said Akita because he has the Akita habit of holding your wrist to take you with him, and other things. Apparently that's what they used to do when looking after Japanese children, so sorry for giving wrong impression and I hope Max wasn't too upset.I have just looked on the internet at Samoyed's and he certainly look's like one. I did mention to my vets that to me he didn't look like an Akita, but she was quite adamant that was his main breed, poor Ice won't be able to keep up with his breed at this rate. He'll be getting an identity crisis. !
