Christmas for the strays dogs.

Evening dog lovers this is a please posted onto the Hope 4 Pets Group, and we hope that many Forum members may be willing to help also,

I think its the only day of the year my heart really breaks. Every animal should spend Christmas in a loved home not in a shelter or on the street.
So I go all out to make sure they get a present just like all the lucky dogs they hear about.
Please help me give them a shoe box for Christmas, to let them know there is someone somewhere thinking about them..... please make a box up for our Hope Group and we can hand them out to all the dogs in need.
You can take them to our drop off points, Wines of the World, both shops, and just ask that David keeps them for us, The Wild Duck, SeaAgle Bar, Catalkoy,Lidia's Nail Salon ,Karakum ,opposite Soydan Petrol K PET. and if anyone can think of another drop off place please post below in a postin.
. This is a great idea and if we just by that extra something when shopping, or even just add a toy of sorts, old socks tied, tea towel tied,, Tee shirt, they just love them , maybe a special tin of food, the little square ones as a treat, dog chews, lots of things we could get into a box.
You could also bring them to the Christmas Fair being held at Tolgas Bar in Karsiyaka on Sunday 21st December at 1.00 pm. This will be a fund filled day with Christmas music and Carols to sing along to. A great Festive Sunday before Christmas. Please all help and get involved in this one!

For further information please take a look onto the group...Or phone 0533 839 5561.

Thank you all for your continued help and support,

Spider, X

This dog has been found and posted tonight, he has been to see the Vet already, last time we too one to the vets at 10pm at night and the fantastic staff at petcross came out, That one received a permanent forever home right away and was taken there after bering at Petcross for a few hours,
This poor one in the photo is in need of a loving foster home but better still a forever home, if you can help at all in any way please phone 0533 839 5561, Thank you,

Now before you shoot me down...........I have always been an animal lover and have always had pets until recently when my new accomodation doesn't allow me to have pets.
That been said and from a moderators point of view as well as to provide info for the general public, many of whom don't have or want facebook:
1, Can you verify the status of your group as raising money without charitable status is "strictly speaking" illegal and I would hate to see such well meaning people caught out (and it has happened in the past)
2, To what extent are you coordinating with other animal groups such as KAR. I say this because I have spoken to one KAR member who was upset that potential KAR money (collected legally) might be diverted, so causing the overall pool of potential donations to be diluted.
3, The shelters proposed are being funded how? and being staffed by whom?
4, How are the proposed Christmas donations going to be distributed, and are you coordinating with other groups as to where the "food parcels" are being left to ensure even distribution.
Nobody can doubt any well meaning group trying to do their bit, certainly not me, but questions are being asked (as they will always be on a small island) and clarification of your operation will help put people's minds at rest and I believe help you move forward.

Hi modman,

Before "you" or anyone else for that matter, shoot me down ! May I also ask you, speaking as a mere "general public" person, and unfortunately not a KibKom moderator, what exactly do you define as an animal lover ?

1. You say you are an animal lover, so I ask you, do you eat animals ? If so how do you justify being an "animal lover " ?
2. Do you spend each and every day unconditionally helping animals in anyway you can, for no monetary or egotistical gain other than sleeping more soundly knowing you have given your all, but waking the next morning knowing there will be another desperately in need animal around the corner that you cannot walk on by ?

In answer to your questions:

1. The H4p's community group support street animals in need and collecting gifts is completely legal within friends and like minded people, as confirmed by regulating authorities in the TRNC to myself. This is not "strictly speaking".
2. H4P's co ordinate with many open and "willing" charitable or otherwise animal groups within Cyprus, Turkish or otherwise including the shelter in Lefkosa. Within or out of KARs' designated area. (I have personally helped home, rescue and given care to more than a dozen needy animals this month alone that KAR could/did not take within their area.
3. Shelters are under the jurisdiction of each area and each and every Belidiye are "legally" responsible for funding and staffing. Having said that we as a group have many people who would like to help out should they ever come to fruition (should you need clarification on this aspect you should contact each and every council department in the TRNC).
4. Any Christmas parcels/donations of any description will be distributed to any animal in need, or carer, anywhere in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus wherever they are genuinely needed.

H4p's Group is purely run by animal caring people who are entirely volunteers. No one is paid, no one is given expenses, and no one is taking anything at all from the animals. Animals in need are animals in need , simple! If anyone wishes to question my integrity regarding this please do so !

modman may I also remind you of a recent comment you made and the subsequent locking of what you deemed to be detrimental to a certain animal concern :

modman: I am locking the topic now as the "protest" if there is one is today, and the thread seems to have run its course. Opinions have been expressed and this can only degenerate into a slanging match which I am sure nobody benefits from. If this has served to focus on the problem then "job done". Hopefully the truth will out.

We would not want another "slanging" match would we?

I am very sorry you have interpreted my comments in such a challenging way. Was the comment "so I ask you, do you eat animals ?" really necessary?
My comments merely reflected what is said to me and I am pleased you were able to answer the questions in a clear and balanced way.

As to your further content, the moderators at Kibkom strive to keep the forum a place for reasonable debate, avoiding personal comments and vitriol where possible. That is what we are tasked with. If you are not happy with my actions you could take it up with Soner whose rules we attempt to follow.

As has been said many times, the forum exists to give information and for people to ask questions, which is what I did. No one questioned anyone's integrity, honesty or questioned their motives. What was wrong with JUST answering the questions?

Hello modman,

In reply to your reply, I am happy that you have had your questions answered and I was "able to answer the questions in a clear and balanced way".

I am also sorry that you found my questions to you, querying your statement, if you are an animal lover "unnecessary" given that you have also said : "As has been said many times, the forum exists to give information and for people to ask questions". Given the subject one has to be clear on which ground one is coming from, which I why I asked. Unfortunately I have not had a reply to my questions.

Regarding your comment " No one questioned anyone's integrity, honesty or questioned their motives" I believe that you questioned the integrity, honesty and motives of the group H4P's in each of your questions 1 2 and 4. This in turn questions my own integrity, honesty and motives as I support the group. This is why I did not "JUST" answer your own questions.

To confirm to you we do not act illegally and donations (Christmas or otherwise) of any kind will be diverted only to animals or carers alone. Dilution spreads help to the many stray, neglected and abused animals in desperate need. The shelters are not in our jurisdiction unfortunately.
In today's world It may seem to some hard to believe that some people have no hidden agenda. Some are just genuine animal carers simple!

Steph,

The questions posed needed to be asked.

The response to the original set of questions was in my opinion a little over the top.

As moderators we walk a fine line to ensure that not only are postings within forum rules but we must also always have at the back of our minds that we are here to also ensure that the forum itself is protected and not subject to any legal challenges with regards to organisations, people or groups advertising/asking for donations/money.

As an animal lover myself and an owner of a rescued greyhound from a registered UK charity I fully understand the need to try and help all strays - however please do not be offended when perfectly sensible questions are asked.

If the legality of an organisation/person/group cannot be proven or substantiated then as hard as it may seem the postings cannot be allowed to remain on the forum. I can assure you it will not be one moderator who makes the decision, it will be discussed and agreed by all.

We would ask for your understanding to protect this forum, if nothing more.

Thanks

Copy of an email sent to Soner ,

Hi Soner,

Hope your well, and an early Marry Christmas to you,

Please can you explain as to why now your moderator on the Forum seem to have pounced upon a thread I have posted with regards to Christmas boxes for the street animals and the Leftkosa rescue shelter, ? This is a genuine plea for support and help for,the dogs here in NC,
Mod man has asked a number of questions that were not even related to the posting, !

Q, 1. Verify the charity status of the group hope 4 Pets, A Facebook group helping animals has no legal reason in any country to register as a charity, and as one member who set up the GoFund account had it clarified by her solicitor in NC, and an email I sent to you to show you,
I can not understand as to why he would ask a question like this I have not asked for money anyway, !
And as for events where money is gathered the events are only organised by the group for the Leftkosa shelter, and members of the shelter are there to deal with the fundraising, They are a charity and all the group is doing is supporting them, working with them, by arranging events on their behalf, as they might for any other registered animal charity if they were asked to,

Q,2 KAR,, We work well with KAR to our knowledge, and again the lady who set up the GoFund account rescued a stray dog and KAR transported the dog to the UK, Also KAR have had a meeting with members of the H4 P group this went well and I am sure like the group know that the general public will support or criticise both them and such a group as Ours,
There are postings often asking for donations for bedding , etc for the Famugusta compound without such questions being asked from the moderators on the Forum, So you can see that this has caused upset with many members of the Hope group, as they say they can put their money or efforts where they wish,

Q, 3 , Proposed shelters, ? What has this to,do with the posting, again nothing in the posting was said about needing money or staff to help fund future shelter, ? Although many on the group would,be willing I am sure,

Q4, How are the Christmas boxes going to be distributed, well that would be down to,the group, members and I would think, that as caring animal lovers would distribute where needed, ie, anyone who is looking after many street animals that are members of the group, or the general public and or any shelter compound where they , the boxes of gifts would help make an animal feel loved,

As for mod man giving concerns about the group moving forward, forward to,where, ? It's a very successful group with some 200 new members joining every week, We on the group do what we are doing and as you know it is not illegal and working with the Leftkosa shelter is just the second chapter, the third will no doubt be if and when there are other compounds built, But the street dogs and the caring community that help them all are our first priority,

My goodness there was a plea to help, the boat people posted just the other night, Help the Refugees asking the forum members if they know how to help donate food and water, This is all the the Hope group are asking for the street animals ! And as for helping the Leftkosa shelter well they are only helping a charity,! A we all would and have helped Tulips and KAV Cancer Research raise money,

I would not want to ask our member who received a very uncalled for message from one of your moderators to please post the correspondence, the one I emailed onto you that states this member had spoken with her solicitor here in North Cyprus about online donations of money and their reply that it is not illegal at all,

As I have said before, I do think,it is unfair that many members and now it seems moderators wish to and seem to be able to TRASH a posting just because they wish to, I am sure all the moderators on the Forum have read many a posting from myself about the Hope group and what the hope group is all about, It was not that long ago when many a car was getting filled up with donations and yet one of you moderators was and I believe still is in support of this, so why not for Christmas Boxes for the dogs, cats that so need some treats and comforts, !!

Thank you for you understanding with this matter and I also hope that the moderators may well too have more compassion in the future rather than antagonising posting,

Yours Faithfully,

Spider, X

Maria,

Please all take another look at the attached photo and you will see why so many people are happy to offer love and HOPE to,the street animals here,,

Just to ask also that as I started the thread, posing and as it started out as information only, !

I would like to ask that it now gets closed as I would not like to see it go any further or turn into some kind of debate, !

Another posting can be made for that

Thanks,

It states in one of these posts that "they are a charity". Have you a Registration number for this charity?

Maybe link the post, ? The Ledtkosa rescue shelter is a charity and if you would like their number please go to the shelter and perhaps ask the people, there,

As for the HOPE group, that's all it is A Facebook Hope group giving hope to the many street animals here, with the help of kind people who offer food and bedding and many times a home for the street dogs,

Why do people not understand the concept of the fact that many people are care givers, Try not to knock it as one day you might find yourself in need of it as many street dogs seem to attach themselves,

Spider, X

oh and when you do get the Charity number of the shelter maybe you would like to post it, ?
