Just recently my beautiful young cat died, due, to put it mildly, to an 'oversight' on behalf of the first vet that I trustingly took her to.

When one of my other cats suddenly became ill I was at my wits end as to who to trust his care to but another Kibkom member, Sonya at the Food Lodge, recommended Altay Sakar at Vetpoint clinic catalkoy.

I took Bobby to him last friday and he said he ''might'' have an ear infection but he couldn't be sure as Bobby was so distressed at being in the cat box and the journey so he couldn't give him a thorough examination.

He gave me cream for his ear but said get in touch if he doesn't settle in a couple of days. And if necessary, on Monday he would give him a tranquiliser and have a better look.

By sunday Bobby had deteriorated and was ''hours away from death''.

We rang Altay and he said that seeing how stressed Bobby becomes when put in the pet carrier, he would come to the house.

This truly dedicated and skilled young man came at 2pm with all the necessary equipment, hooked Bobby, who was by now in a coma, up to a drip and for 3 solid hours monitored Bobby, administered what was needed and, like my husband and myself, willed him to live.

When Bobby was stabilised Altay went off for a well earned break for a couple of hours but came back at 7pm.

I am not being overdramatic, just stating a fact, we watched this man bring Bobby back from the brink of death.

By 9.30pm, Altay felt that it would be safe to take Bobby off the drip for a while. He was by no means 'out of the woods' but was responsive.

Again, being aware of how Bobby hates the cat carrier, he placed him on a cushion in his car and took him to his own home with him.

Altay has a well equipped clinic and did every test available.

He has taken Bobby to the clinic with him every day and to his home each night since Sunday and has given him 24 hour care.

Bobby is now off the drips and is starting to eat solids and hopefully coming home tonight.[FRIDAY]

Sorry to be so long winded but I think this young man deserves to be praised, he went well beyond the call of duty for what some of you might say is ''only a cat''.

And, I can assure any cynics, for what he has charged us, he definately is not in it for the money.

Thank you Altay and thank you Sonya for recommending him

It is heart warming to hear this, it restores faith in human nature.

Well done to Altay
