Neighbours cats seem to use the wall as a motorway. My new Cyprus poodle doesn't like them doing this.Ans is consequentally very noısy.....The walls are on my Koçan,built with the house.Neighbouing property is old Greece house.
What can İ put on wall to deter the cats? broken glass?barbed wire?

Re: adjoining walls
I have been moaning on about the same problem for 17 years , Mike, and trying to persuade people it is not a good idea to encourage strays into residential areas by feeding them . Even KAR advise feeding all stray animals away from houses. There is a risk that some nasty person will get fed up with the noise and put down poison, killing beloved pets properly cared for as well as strays. I have a had as many of 7 cats fighting and yowling on the shed roof and I have three dogs! The cats also make a mess the garden and drive the dogs mad when the latter are indoors.
In summer a hose pipe is a good idea - both at cats and dogs - if you are careful about the pressure it will not do either any serious or permanent harm in warm weather, but neither species like it, and it may just help to persuade the dog to shut up! . Only other thing is to grow prickly creepers up and over the walls , (wild roses are ideal and bougainvillea) but takes time, may block sun, and the neighbours may not like it.
Orange peel does not work - I have been trying that for even longer - in the UK I did not have dogs, but all the neighboring cats used my garden as a loo, and dug up all the plants.

Re: adjoining walls
Thanks R R was going to peel a few of my sour oranges.tomorrow.My 'old'Cyprus terrier can't reach far up the wall, and they have had free passage...unless they try to invade her land, then a good chase ensues. My new dog is getting used to a large outdoor area, which he thinks ıncludes the walls..I have some spare prickly cacti to plant where there is soil on the wall, and will search for more prickly plants to grow quickly.More for my selfish needs though.İ usually get up with my partner before she leaves for work at 0630,but if İ go back to bed, ooooops, guarantee the dog spots a potential target on the wall !!!!
Oh usual culprit is one of my Moldovan neighbour's ginger cat, called Putin !!!!Annoying like his namesake

A Water pistol then - there are super-duper ones now that you pump up, with a range of 15 or 20 metres...Ragged Robin wrote:...Orange peel does not work - I have been trying that for even longer...

Water pistols are a great idea, Keith - do you know anywhere East of Girne that sells them please?
So are cacti, Mike, unfortunately my walls are of concrete and nowhere to plant them. Pots would just get knocked over.
My betes noire (literally ) are the third generation of a family of black cats that make a nest next door every year. And of course the one time they make a brilliant classic Disney picture as the mother lead the kittens in a stalk across the ridge of the house next door silhouetted against the moon, I did not have a camera to hand.
I think Cyprus Terriers are particularly territorial....my others probably would not have bothered if the "first dog" a CT had not taught them! And they studiously ignore cats when on walks - it is only when the felines invade "their" territory they get aggressive.
