This happened to this poor girl in ROC. Similar happens here also. Hunting dog abuse is rife throughout Cyprus. For more details if you have the stomach ..........

Sorrow, found in Anavargos, has been sliced from the chest to the throat, this is one of the worst cases of cruelty, all the vets and staff at the clinic have all shed tears over this one, but want her to live, she is a hunting dog aged between 4-5 years, and even after her terrible trauma, is a friendly dog. To help her survive we need financial help for her treatment, she is going to need skin graphs, lots of dressings several times a day,pain relief, antibiotics, fluids, infusion, vitimins and intensive nursing care for weeks to try and save her. OMG how bloody barbaric, why is this country so cruel to animals, she is beautiful, so sorry.

I am being a BIT THICK HERE, but why was this done, do you think? And how? What circumstances could merit a hunting dog having this done, unless it was caught on something and tore the skin. Was it a deliberate act, or the result of an accident, and when you say 'similar is done here' - well, please explain.

Marion, I think you are most probably right, caught in barb wire or wired fencing is more likely. I can not see that someone would have done such a thing - does not make sense. Poor thing.

The problem is animal cruelty in Cyprus is rife, how did this dog end up like this, a hunting dog that was abandoned probably because she didn't do her job that she had no training for, she may well have got stuck on barbed wire, however, look at the picture again and see how thin she is.

Until these cruel inflictors of pain on animals are educated it will never change, I do think the majority of Cypriots should not be allowed to keep dogs.

To quote a famous saying: A country is judged by the way it treats its animals!
