Re: pets into Trnc
Hi - we're bringing 2 cats over in October and are doing it ourselves. We're flying into Paphos only so they have as little flight time as possible cos they're elderly and the can fly directly from Glasgow to there (Larnaca flights were full for the date we wanted).
It's actually not that difficult to organise yourself and it is so much less expensive.

Re: pets into Trnc
Thanks, we've already booked with Jet2 cos the Larnaca flight with Thomas Cook was already fully booked for 31st October. The thing is we as owners have to get all the pet passport paperwork organised anyway, so on top of that it's just the flights and relative veterinary stuff at Larnaca/Paphos and then a gain for TRNC.
Good luck with your move and I'm delighted you managed to save some money.

How do you then get your pet from South to north, i thought animals were not allowed to cross from one side to the other.

Re: pets into Trnc
you have to pay for a vetnenary person to come to the border to check your paper work to allow you entry with your pets. not to sure of the procedures yet more than likely it will change by the time we come back. i,ll let you all know how i get on.

Re: pets into Trnc
Pets can be brought from the South to North with all the correct paperwork including a TRNC Import License that is on top of the Pet Passport in to the South, but legally then can not cross from North to South. To get in to TRNC the pet has to have a blood test 28 days after Rabies vacs that is sent off to lab in UK and providing it comes back at the immune level you then apply to Ministry here to have paperwork sent to UK vet and they do whatever necessary. Also various other things over and above the Pet Passport requirements for cats and dogs. Sadly I went through all of this 3 weeks ago and spoke to Mr Mehmet at the TRNC Vetenary Authorities to get papers sent to UK, only a couple of days later my poor cat was found to have terminal cancer in the UK and had to be put to sleep. So close to being reunited and yet so far, it broke my heart. He was a lovely Cream Smoke Persian but almost 16 years old, and yet only a few weeks earlier he had been checked over and was in fine health. Sadly it was never to beRoyalcorpsoftranspor wrote:How do you then get your pet from South to north, i thought animals were not allowed to cross from one side to the other.

I brought my dog and cat from Qatar, I used the Vets in Doha for the export and Ann for the import, she was brilliant, and her cost is not that much, she did all the paper work and all the leg work for me, she even drove my husband to LCA to collect them from their flight. I totally recommend this lady.

Re: pets into Trnc
Hi,
First time I have posted anywhere so I apologise if the answer has already been given,, I am bringing my yorkie over in march 2014, I have started to organise his EU passport and my UK vet seems very confident he knows the procedure for the TRNC,, however do I need to be met by a TRNC vet at the border to ensure my passport and paperwork is in order for him to get in ?
Also does anybody know of any problems encountered at the Greek border going home.
Thanks in advance for anybodys help.

God only knows why anyone would want to take a much loved pet to a country that poisons dogs.

A lot of dogs don't like muzzles, but then it isn't about the needs of the dog is it

Re: pets into Trnc
They can still get poisoned even when muzzled. Sniffing and licking is enough. Sadly, the only way to keep your dog safe is to walk him on a lead down the middle of the road. Not much fun for man nor beast.
fortunately Yorkies are small and are not so much in need of runs in the countryside. Knowing what I do now, I would not move to here with large, active dogs, but find somewhere where walks in the countryside are safe.

Barry - why not contact KAR (kar@kyreniaanimalrescue.org or call 0090 5338694098) as they have up to date info on the process. They will give you advise about bringing your dog into TRNC via South Cyprus and also about bringing him into Ercan instead.
You cannot take pets from TRNC to South Cyprus to go "home" (UK).

Re: pets into Trnc
Hi Barry
A TRNC vet has to meet you at the border to check all the paperwork is in order. We brought our cats over last year and Ann Bosley organised everything for us and picked us up. At what is already a stressful time, I can't recommend enough that you consider using Ann.
All you have to do is scan and email the Pet Passports and Rabies certificates and she'll organise the rest.
"Also does anybody know of any problems encountered at the Greek border going home. " - not really sure what you mean by this? When bringing your dog from south to north, you won't have any problems at the Greek border, but as I've said, need to be prepared to meet a TRNC vet before you can continue with your journey. However, if you mean the other way, you simply can't do that, no animals north to south I'm afraid.
