hello everyone.
i would like some numbers of people who go back and forth to the Uk with a van.
i live in karşıyaka and family lives in Enfield.
We have tried a few people and all of them i will never touch again.
Theres omer in Lapta who brought half of my items over and left the a few in the Uk he lied to my parents and said there all on the van and i want ££££ this much for your items.
When he turned up he rang and said come and get your boxes your mum knows i have only brought a few over.
When i rang my mum she said that we were aware that they were all on the van on there way over my father then tried to get call him but would not pick up.
me and my husband have been to his house a few times but his wife says his in the uk.
God knows where he is.
ramadan kelebek i was still in the Uk trying to pack boxes my Grandad showed him the way to my house he quickly looked at a few small boxes and said £600 my father asked can he drop it a bit and said take it or leave it walked out of the house and left my Grandad in the freezing cold.
There is someone who we tired and we are still waiting for he left Enfield in August
so can someone please give contact info for someone reliable and does not take years to get here
Thank you bubsey

If you want your gear transported reliably, use a proper transport company to be on the safe side. I'd recommend Olaytrans who handled our very difficult shipment with aplomb and great efficiency. But relying on the odd van driver I would think is guaranteed to create hassles.

MoBry, good that Olaytrans handled your goods well.
However, they completely lost mine. No matter what their reputation, I could never recommend them.

We all can only speak as we find. I am sure there are excellent shipping agents out there. I helped a friend ship a car over to Cyprus via a reputable agent. Promises of a trouble-free importation with all documents in order - it took months and months to get the car out of Famagusta docks. Where was the reputable agent when needed once the car was at Famagusta? You got it in one: no interest once the shipping agent had been paid and the transaction "completed" as far as they were concerned. So much for the shipping agent's promises made prior to collection in the UK. I learnt a valuable lesson back then - and it wasn't me who went through the frustration and bureaucracy sorting out what should already have been in place as part of the shipping agents service.
I brought my car over myself. Yep, I still experienced frustration and bureaucracy but the car came through the port (Girne) with me - all the frustration and bureaucracy came whilst I was able to drive my vehicle in Cyprus. My vehicle is now street legal.
Back to shipping to and fro UK and NC - using a "reputable" agent may still leave you with a headache only you can resolve if there is an "issue" at the port of entry. Your goods may be offloaded and left at the port with a daily charge accruing whilst you are blissfully unaware there is an "issue". It is quite possible you will only find out there is an "issue" when
YOU inquire some time after the expected delivery / receipt of your goods.
I am satisfied using a small van transportation business "Kelebek Transport" - ok, I read what bubsey wrote in the original post. A quote of £600 for a few small boxes... of course that sounds unreasonable. I wouldn't pay that either. Then again, I've never been quoted £600 for a
few
small
boxes.
I am paying Kelebek Transport (Ramadan and / or Arif) £50 per plastic crate of dimension:600×400×335mm, with a loading of 35kg, to ship. That is - shipping from SE London
TO MY DOOR in North Cyprus. Not bad eh? It's been a trouble-free experience to date. I use the service once or twice a year. Oh, and they bring the empty plastic crates back to the UK for free.
I used Kelebek Transport to ship over six steel office cabinets of dimensions 1000×500×1600mm at a cost of £100 per cabinet (two per journey). The steel cabinets took three of us (Ramadan, Arif and myself) to man-handle onto and off the van.
Sometimes one has to stand up for the little guy. It's not all plain sailing and smooth waters with the main players in this transportation lark. Some cowboys are bigger than others.

I've used Valentines several times now - they're close to Stansted Airport (usually when I have excess luggage from UK to here!!!). Their cost is reasonable and the van arrives when they say it will. The only downside is that you have to go to Famagusta to clear everything through customs.

Sorry you had a bad experience kaiserphil. If that happenned to me I wouldn`t recommend them either. As it was back in 2009 ours came through with no problems and they helped us with the customs declaration etc so we actually ended up paying no duty.

We used Olaytrans for our furniture and they did have their moments - difficult to get hold of, never answer e-mails, never phone back. But I suppose that's just like most of the people and companies in this country!! Although we relied on much of the information we got from Jo Valentine's about the process we should expect to go through, because Olaytrans told us nothing, they were ok - all our stuff arrived smoothly and there were plenty of guys sent across to help us unload and they did it all within a few hours, even though it was a 40 foot container! I believe Jo Valentine does a lot of group haulage so if you haven't got a lot of stuff to send across you don't have to hire a container to yourself. I've never done this myself so I don't know if it can get complicated with the paperwork!
I would however, STRONGLY recommend you NEVER touch Euromed or Latifoğlu. I'm not going to go in to details here other than to say our experience with those two was dire. That was last year.
Good luck who/whatever you use.

I would not use Valentines, dreadful company, damaged my furniture and I lost some of it, Jo Valentines doesn't answer emails and when I met her I thought her attitude was dreadful, I could have happily slapped her!!!
Use Olaytrans, the only ones I would recommend.

When I moved to TRNC I used the Property Company, of Karsiyaka, and they were very good.
I have otherwise only used Olaytrans, and as may be seen from my earlier post I cannot recommend them, having lost all of my goods.
