We have what can only be labelled an horrendous leak (3/4 tonnes per week) on our swimming pool.

We need an expert's help. Is there such a thing here? All the usual checks and repairs have been carried, so now we really need someone with excellent knowledge of how an overflow pool works, together with the usual complicated plumbing carried out over 20 years ago!!!

Check the return valve , its the one from the ballast tank. Leaves could be stuck in there.

Switch to main drain. If no further loss. .Overfloww gully needs relining

I had a customer with a bad leaking pool, luckily for him he only came out for a couple of weeks twice a year.
After 2 years I persuaded the owner and pool maintenance company after his September visit to first turn everything. Within 2 days the level was down under the troughs which I had believed were the problem. After 2 weeks it was between the trough line and vacuum point but above the lights.
We then agreed to empty the pool and remove the tiles 1 below the water settlement line. Wow the plum tree roots had entered the pool, the wires to the lights had been siliconed in therefore perished. Several cracks in the concrete. All was removed, tree removed to prevent it happening again. New cables to lights, sealed, tiled grouted etc. Refilled and yes 4 years later the owner is happy. Unfortunately all the water over the previous years lead him to having a downstairs room floor up and the foundations refilled as the back fill dried out without the leak.
It also took a lot of persuasion between the owner and maintenance company to agree to no guarantee, labour, materials covered, the length of time and if it worked an equivalent sum to the quotes I had received to companies who said they could fix it if it worked. Owner was obviously wary of the amounts quoted and would it really be fixed? the maintenance company wary of could they fix it, charge the customer the 'going rate' and it was still another problem and have an upset customer.
My role was communication between the owner and maintenance company.
