NTV via Multimax unwatchable again
Hi is anyone else having problems with NTV via Multimax? So far we have a new router. Updated the mag 250 box. We still get constant buffeting, picture freezing, then crashing completely.
We are in the Alsancak area.
Thankyou.

Yup, we've had the usual apologetic text from them, blaming TTNET. What I find strange is iPlayer on laptop is perfect.

Just checked for you - this time getting 10 Mbps (and more - I tried it a few times) to the Multimax Kyrenia server, but less than 1Mbps to London servers (I tried 3 different ones) - at this point in time, it definitely looks like TTNET, although it didn't earlier...turtle wrote:I believe Keith is in Alsancak,.. is he having same problems ?

Yes having the same problems - its complete crap - why on earth they didn't put a bigger fibre optic cable through when they ran the water pipe from Turkey ... clearly its not keeping up with the population increase...we are reliant on the internet speed from Turkey

As far as I can tell, our connection TO Turkey is fine - it's the transit across Turkey and out of the other side which is under the control of TTNET that appears to be the issue.ljarvo wrote:Yes having the same problems - its complete crap - why on earth they didn't put a bigger fibre optic cable through when they ran the water pipe from Turkey ... clearly its not keeping up with the population increase...we are reliant on the internet speed from Turkey
I suspect (on the basis of no knowledge whatsoever) that when they are facing high domestic demand, then we are the ones that suffer.
I will be quite happy if someone proves me wrong, as long as they can prove to me what the actual cause is!
Anyway, having investigated the innards of the drinks cabinet, I'm going to pursue a different sort of research

What other options are there for watching live UK TV that does not rely on the internet? Is there a satellite option and at what cost? Are there any Kibcom members that have an alternative system that they are happy to recommend. I am so fed up with trying to watch TV with an android box.

Look how stable my connection is.
Like I said in the other topic, TTNET was fine for the last few days, still good. Ask Fixnet (facebook) for any real TTNET related issues. Shame not all WISPs share the same amount of information with us.
edit: I also get the lowest latencies ever for few weeks, as low as 56ms to Google (server somewhere in EU).

Interestingly, we did not have 'any' complaints yesterday from Multimax customers who are using our TV system. Further details, for those who 'may' be interested in finding out more, can be found here - http://www.kibkomnorthcyprusforum.com/v ... 30&t=40393 (Satellite Cyprus)

Re: NTV via Multimax unwatchable again
Since finishing with NTV and using the TV system supplied by SatelliteCyprus I can honestly say we have had no problems. However we are not with Multimax so cannot comment on that part of the deal.

Dear meme,
Try these if your using a MAG box.. It's £2 for a 24 hour trial or £10 for the month....

I got rid NTV a long time ago... Overpriced, same sort of systems around for much less money.
It's just the same
I don't use MM either.

Re: NTV via Multimax unwatchable again
Not sure if it matters what internet based system you use, if the internet is crap the TV reception will be also. I don't have NTV but a completely different provider and when the internet (MM) is up to scratch it's perfect. Tried to watch golf this evening (17:30) and its crap, because I need 4mbs minimum and am getting between 2.4 and 3.5. There maybe systems around which need less than 4mbs to work but I would imagine that picture quality would be poor, but don't really
know.
know.

Re: NTV via Multimax unwatchable again
Brazen, picture quality on a 2Mbps stream is quite good. I have installed an internet TV system today in Karmi/Karaman. It was working fine whilst I was there, but I will know more once they have had it running on their internet connection for a few days and report back to me. If you are interested, I will post here when I have some further information

Re: NTV via Multimax unwatchable again
Our internet system is working fine, no buffering at all in Karsiyaka. We have 3MB with Extend. We only get buffering if we try to watch football in HD, and then not always. Surely it can only be too much traffic trying to squeeze through a bottleneck at once.
