Multimax V NTV

Posted: Fri 15 Nov 2013 8:51 pm
by Mollie the cat
For the past 2 weeks our TV has been freezing and pixeling between the hours of 7pm and 9.30pm every evening.

This evening almost totally unwatchable!

For the third time this week telephoned Multimax to see if my internet speed was OK. In fairness they did the usual checks, my speed at peek times drops to about 3.7meg which I can cope with, the TV should still operate normally at that speed.

Submitted three tickets to NTV who replied saying, not our problem check with your internet supplier it must be them?

My question is: Where do you go from here? My gut reaction is to cancel NTV and find another provider, unless my reception improves soon I will cancel next week.

There seems to be issues not related to NTV and not related to Multimax at play here. We are working closely with NTV in order to hopefully find a solution to this.

We are investigating, although it is more diffiecult then things are not fully in our control, we will make an announcement later today or tomorrow.

Kemal

I will make a public announcement with possible solution scenarios

Re message 2 - I hope you can find out what is going on soon - since about the beginning of October our reception has deteriorated and now from about 6..30pm everyday is almost unwatchable and extremely frustrating.
We appreciate the odd time when it's not going to be perfect but this is every day - week after week
Seriously considering not renewing and finding alternative
When it works it works well the MM and NTV connection and we have recommended it toeveryone but not any more until it's sorted.

Kemal,
I appreciate you looking into the problem.

I agree with the last post.

I have had NTV for the past 7 months, most of the time I have no problems. The range of channels and service is good however, when NTV goes bad it really goes bad. The last two weeks every evening has been very poor indeed.

Ok its my choice whether I keep the service or not, it is highly likely I will be looking at alternatives from Monday.

Last evening, most NTV channels completely unwatchable, others not even there. Did speed tests with MM and speeds were good enough to receive it, so it wasn't a problem with that. As per usual with the NTV website there was no one there to talk to. I have also recommended the NTV/MM service to many people, not anymore. If you find an alternative Mollie the Cat, please let us all know so those of us unhappy with NTV can do the same.

Hi Mollie the Cat
Reminds me of a similar situation re Golf Clubs
WE would change if alternatives were available

We have met with two different couples this morning, they had the same experience, sounds like NTV has gone pear shaped in the evenings.

For those still having problems:

This is the reply from NTV earlier today.

Thank you for contacting us. Your internet connection is enough to cover the NTV service needs. Perhaps the issue is related to the way the service works in TRNC and the not always good connectivity from TRNC to other parts of the world (as video is being delivered to TRNC from outside). However, this will hopefully improve in time. From NTV side, we can confirm that we haven't had any records of bad activity during the last ~10 days (after maintenance has finished).

"From the TRNC to other parts of the world???" Do they think we live in China?

This is my challenge to NTV.

If any of their team, management or otherwise visit my home on any evening of their choice, I will supply them with 6 of the finest Cuban cigars, as much fine wine and food as they can muster, a loose woman, just to tell me which program I am supposed to be watching???

I cannot understand how NTV can continue to bury their head in the sand and say no problem their end?

Lots of people can stand the truth. If they said, "look that's the best we can offer, that's the best you are going to get take it or leave it" many people would accept that.

Time for a change me thinks.

At least you got a response from them, more than I've been able to get.
"From NTV side, we can confirm that we haven't had any records of bad activity during the last ~10 days (after maintenance has finished)."
Probably because they are ignoring the complaints.
Absolutely appalling service!!!

Perhaps the problem is related to how tbe service works in TRNC?? What- load of cobblers-if it was that was the reason why - why has it I worked perfectly for months
on end before!! fishy or what!

NTV say no activity complaints in last 10 days, surely they read this forum and see all who are fed up not being able to watch programmes. Also is it just me but back up keeps saying "file missing", I am in Karsiyaka.

Actually the "How the internet works in the TRNC" may have something to bear on the issue. All of our internet, legally sourced here in the TRNC I believe has to come from TTNET in Turkey. ISPs here have little control over this. This may add to the issues a non trnc company such as NTV has.

Mine has been a little strange tonight, managed to watch the Rugby without interruption all the way through half of the dancing show then it was like someone flicked a switch and now it seems fine again so it clearly is not an issue with over subscription.

To me it seems a pretty exceptional issue, clearly from KBs postings he is trying to sort it out.

On the Northcyprusforum there is an article from Kemal Basat originally from Multimax website, literally telling his customers his dealing with NTV is over. At the bottom of the statement is a refunds promise of unused months etc of 100% monies back to anyone who are unhappy with NTV.

Marions how do you think closing the thread helps. We are all waiting for the promised anouncement from NTV/MM Maybe you know where this will now be.

Marions,
I agree with the last post. NTV have promised to update their customers today. The threads are at least as important as some of the drivel you do get on here. Whilst I appreciate not everyone is with NTV or Multimax there must be quite a few who are awaiting their response today.

As we have had regular postings by representatives of MM on this forum, I am confident that the awaited announcement from Multimax/NTV will appear in due course.

It may be the decision of the forum administrator to keep any announcement as a "sticky" for a period of time so it does not get lost amongst the other postings - that will of course be his decision.

The thread was closed for the reasons given by Marion.

Disappointed to say that, unless I have missed it somewhere, there has been no joint announcement from NTV/MM as promised today. Would be happy if I am wrong and someone could tell me where I could find one ?????????

PoshinDevon,

Pleased you said the announcement will be made in due course, maybe not today then as promised, although in fairness there is still time!

I said I was confident that an announcement will be made" in due course".... I did not say it would be today, tonight or even tomorrow.

Most service providers who experience this type of problem prefer to make sure the problems are fully resolved and systems fully tested before making announcements.

Customers can still contact the service providers for information whilst waiting for an official announcement.

Indeed you didn't say it would be made today - but a representative of MM/NTV did promise a statement today - and as far as I know there has been none. Does lead me to question the level of trust in what they say unfortunately

Sent in 2 e-mails to NTV 2 days ago and got this reply today

Thank you for contacting us. Can you please elaborate, whether your are having a problem with catch-up or real time playback? If it is real-time playback, please provide us with the channels, you have been having issues with, as well as the exact time and date. Thank you in advance.

It looks like we will need to keep a log of what is happening for them and then report it back. I can't remeber what channel I was watching but I will tell them about yesterday (sky sports F1) and today Nat Geo uk channel which is stopping and starting since 23:04 and is still continuing.

And there could well be a legitimate reason for the delay. If the issue is indeed complex and multifaceted they may be trying to make sure they have total understanding or control over it before they jump in with both feet and come out with something the baying wolves on the internet use against them later.

My NTV is pretty near perfect tonight so perhaps they are getting on top of it which is what we all really want.

Seems fair and reasonable to me Erol. As mentioned I have already noticed an improvement, I also accept this is an internet based system and as such can have issues related to that.

Thanks Erol for the link to the announcement - and yes it seems fair and reasonable to me also. I will indeed look out for the improvement over the coming period, but however I am unclear from the statement how the compensation will be applied to my account. My subscription is due for extension in less than 24 hours, so normally I would be paying for the extension during the course of tomorrow (Tuesday). Will my free month be applied before my subscription runs out on Tuesday evening ? I have tried sending my question via the online feedback form on the Multimax site, but it gives me an error message (tried 3 times now), and I also tried using your online support (which said it was available), but it went to a blank screen. the NTV online support states 'Away'. So I have resorted to posting on here and sending an email to NTV (which I have no confidence will be answered soon enough given I have less than 24 hours in which to establish the answer).

Thanks again for supplying the link, and I do appreciate your efforts in helping us

NTV and MM,
Thank you for your detailed response to the recent problems. At least the message is clear that you have acknowledged there have been real problems with the system and you are tackling them head on.

All those affected can now make up their own minds whether to stay with NTV or find other alternatives. Your help is very much appreciated.

Thank you very much Erol - your help is very much appreciated, and even more so as I appreciate you guys must be working long hours at the moment dealing with the issues (and judging by the time stamp on your message). I have thanked you in my private response, but also wanted to thank you publicly.

I'm totally confused now as the Multimax statement says we are getting 1 month compensation but the NTV site announcement says we are getting 2 weeks compensation.

Teatime, all NTV customers 'worldwide' are getting the 2 weeks. In addition to that NTV customer in North Cyprus are getting an additional 16 days, making it one month for such customers. Hope that is a bit clearer now ?

Today whilst watching the FREE channels on the NTV site all of a sudden the free channels stopped working and I got a message asking me to subscribe, as I was still logged in I thought this was odd so I went to the main menu and the free channel folder was missing.
Looks as though the free channels are finished

Free channels are finished, correct. They were available to everyone on the whole of WorldWideWeb but they are no more.

Multimax customers can continue to enjoy free NTV channels through 'Multimax Channels'. This package currently has only 3 channels, but it will be upgraded tonight to have 10-15 channels(similar to what free channels offered) for Multimax subscribers to enjoy.
