ADSL continued problems: best wifi alternative?

Firstly this is not intended in any way as 'having a go at' Sunny Cyprus - simply the creaking ADSL system with permanent promises (good ol 'Cyprus promise') of a fix/upgrade, soon!

Foolishly renewed our 4 mb ADSL package for a year as it had been relatively OK in recent weeks. Sods law after renewing it's been off more than on, or when on almost unusable. Apparently 'the Government' has put out the ADSL renewal to tender, but nothing further than that. While it may be cheap at 279 tl for 4 mb ADSL (plus telecom ADSL line rental cost per month), cheap ain't no good if it don't work! Really annoying as we are so close to the exchange, we have one of the best ADSl lines they have seen - regularly got 4 mb+ download speed on bit torrent.

Can anyone recommend a wifi provider (any one used Sunny Cyprus on wifi?) for the centre of Catalkoy? I see some services with 15mb connection, but it seems if you download during peak hours you will get penalised - having given up on the 'Digiturk-ripoff' years ago (mainly their arbitrary removal of channels with no notice), we do download a lot of TV to watch. Also looking to install an android box as well.

Grateful for suggestions in the 4 mb wifi service and anyone's experience in Catalkoy. One provider said with a 4 mb wifi, you can expect to get 3 mb - true?

Many thanks.

Hi

I work for Multimax and I do so because I believe it is the best internet provider in North Cyprus.

We offer packages of 'up to' 15mbs and 'up to' 20mbs. What actual speed you will get in a given location will vary from location to location and at different times at a given location. In truth what actual average speeds you will get can not be known until after you are installed however we are confident that we can provide more actual speed for less cost than alternative suppliers and this backed up by our 'best performance / price' guarantee. Basically if you feel after we have installed that you can get more actual speed for less elsewhere then we will refund any unused portion of your contract. So give us a try ?

laptawrinkly, I see you have moved East or you are expecting good WiFi from the centre of Catalkoy to reach you in Lapta - lol. I live above the riding stables in Catalkoy in an area that gives both MM and myself the occasional headache with connectivity, but I would go with MM if I was you, in particular if you are one of the lucky ones and have sight - line of sight - to the Food Lodge!! If not then ask MM to give you a survey to see what they can provide - good solid company who try to please the customer.
