Wifi Dongle for internet connection

As I am only over in TRNC three or four times a year I've never justified the cost of internet in my house (just another bill).

I was thinking of buying a portable wifi dongle which takes a data sim card.

Just wondering if anyone else has done this?
How fast is it (streaming videos? or just email?)
If the data SIM cards are available over there?
Is there an 'expat' or 'part time' internet package available over there where you only pay a percentage of the annual fee since not being there full time?

Any other advice would be great!

Chris

Had one 5 years ago downloaded soaps corrie casualty and a couple of one hour shows eat the allowance in two weeks
Advantage can use lap top anywhere but with wifi every where now not an advantage
Use Multimax freedom package fiex fee 275 tl pa 3.75 tl per day
This has the advantage that you can use the wifi with the multimax for tablets and viber skype facetime etc

should have said pay on line so when I get to cyprus the freedom package is working
Also when a flight was cancelled back to our place extend for two days the freedom pacage no need to go round buying top up cards
Annual fee is near the cost of a dongle
