What's with the "air show"?

Seems the Turkish AF is buzzing the island today. Impressive! What's the occasion? I noticed the jet was dropping flares over the plains near the mountains.
Tomorrow is the anniversary date of the founding of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus.
Recognised only by Turkey but still going strong. Long may it continue.
