He was an excellent buy by John Ireland for £64,000 from Man City and haunted them a decade later in the League cup final
Also he was playing for ManCity I think in my first Match August 1962 Wolves 8-1 Mancity didn't see City much that day

I went to the matches a lot in the 60s has a child, so a bit vague , but did he get a broken leg playing against Leeds ? Billy Bremner maybe ?

You seem to have a good knowledge. Doog was my hero and unfortunatley he died the day we moved here to live.

My dad redecorated my bedroom and I then re. decorated it with cuttings and photo of the team. using drawing pins and sellotape he then proceeded to redecorate my backside , a nice shade of red.

The FA cup semi final at Main road saw us loose 1-0 to Leeds it was the only goal we conceded
Leeds player and son of Short Heath went doen like a sack o spuds and when he got up his face had a lump on it no booking no one saw but was it Waggy we had stopped them doing the double and got Clough the league title
I saw Doug in brum on the steps of the bank of scotland not long before he died I went and thanked him for the pleasure he had given
Saw Peter Knowles two and a bit years ago and said the same "Thanks for the pleasure he had given ".He said that
"I was so arrogant "and apologised for his attitude and behaviour as a player he's happy with his life as an M&S worker probably retired now .Totally different to the Peter Knowles who used to go out with a woman in the shop I worked in 1968
Web site might help jog your memories

This is my club too.Happy to join in with my fellow Wolves supporters.Soon have enough for a Cyprus supporters team, although with my dodgy knees I guess I could only hobble down the wing these days.
One of my first matches in1965 was the game against Portsmouth 8-2 with Hughie McIlmoyle getting a couple & a Waggie effort.John Richards,Steve Bull & Kenny Hibbitt were also my favourite players.Happy Days.

Welcome new Wanderer.

I also know Peter Knowles well, we met a lot due to our work in the 80s and I went on to see him at regular intervals. I have found him to be one of the nicest people I have met.

Lots of the team went to my Restaurant in the 90s I have the Jade away shirt signed by Steve Bull he actually signed it on the bar whilst having a pint. I remember Don Goodman telling me he was on 7K a week in the 90s and Steve Daley had gone on to be our Brewery rep.

I have not seen Peter for around 4 years. caught up with him quickly on a trip back and he still looks incredible for his age.

I could well have been a wanderers supporter .. Just after the war the Wolves had a fantastic team .. Billy Wright, Bert Williams, Johnny Hancocks, Johnny Mullen, Jessie Pye, Dennis Westcott to name a few I remember .. As luck would have it about 1949 I started supporting my home town team Blackburn Rovers, Dennis Westcott was the Rovers centre forward at this time ..
A player mentioned in a previous post, Derek Dougan was a Rovers player for a couple of years, asked for a transfer the night before the cup final in 1960, which Wolves won 3.0 .. Dave Whelan of Wigan Athletic broke his leg (no substitutes then).
Talking of Dave Wagstaffe, he finished his playing days with the Rovers around 1976 .. While playing for Blackburn Waggy has the distinction of being the first player in English football to receive a red card .. Good quiz question ..

Harta
Waggy returned to Molineux and the Wolves manager told the full back to follow him all match even he goes for a ****
He left him once Blackburn scored .He returned back to Wolverhampton for the rest of his life .The same with Dougan they found a home amongst the fans that had followed them.
A bit different to today's footballers
Sorry to see the state of Blackburn since the chicken farmers decided to destroy Jack Walkers legacy

Not really a footie person at all, but my grandson supports Wolves, has a season ticket, as does my daughter, who is actually a Man Utd supporter but loves to go with her boy to Wolves. I used to see Doog often in a local pub I used at lunchtimes. Also, my claim to fame.......many years ago now, I worked for a regional building society based in Wolverhampton (it is no more, now coming under the Lloyds Bank umbrella) anyway, I digress........I was a financial adviser and interviewed Steve Bull, who was a rising star at the time, and had played for England so I am told......my hubby was dumbfounded when I told him that I hadn't got a clue who Steve Bull was!!!!!! My contacts in the insurance business were clamouring for a copy of his autograph (signature...) Wolfie quite often used to visit our chief office in Wolverhampton, as did many of the players as we sponsored them.

Oh I was trying to keep it secret........is that the Pendeford Office? I worked there for 26 years under various guises......the business that is, not me! Midshires first, then Birmingham Midshires, then Halifax, then Halifax Bank of Scotland, and finally Lloyds when I left. Happy days.

No, we have a Daihatsu, that poses as a Toyota (more expensive version). There is a tiny wolves sticker on one of the windows which the son in law put there, he is a Wolves supporter too. Hubby is man utd supporter so the Wolves sticker is tucked away in a corner......invisible to the human eye. Hee hee...... no dont live in the apartments, sort of on the edge of Ozankoy, but classed as Bellapais for some unknown reason.....
