Mains Electric fuse
Hi All,
A friend of mine has had his main fuse stolen from his electric box, he would like to bring one out with him when he comes over on holiday, does anyone know the spec and where he could purchase one?

Re: Mains Electric fuse
I looked into this years ago as a 'just in case' but never actually bought one.
I measured all the dimensions of the one in our box (with padlocks!!) and searched on line, and yes they are available, but it was years ago.
Send him a pic with all the dimms of yours and he will soon source one, just took a bit of time.

I believe from previous posts that the best place to get one from is Tektan in Girne.

Re: Mains Electric fuse
i have just renewed on behalf of my neighbour his stolen fuse.
the cost through kibtek was 205 tl.
the problem in bringing one out from the u.k. or buying a replacement locally is that the fuse holders are not a standard design.
you would have to renew the fuse with fuse holder, which will mean working live if the fuse with holder needs replacing
this would be a 60 amp fuse.
a more modern alternative would to have a circuit breaker fitted, nothing to steal.
I have fitted over my fuse a simple bracket that makes it a lot more difficult the theft of my fuse by these low lives
