Web pages come up in Greek!
When I type in some web addresses, such as http://www.chromecast.com/support, the page appears in Greek.
I am with MM. Why does this happen?
Does anyone else suffer with this?

Steve when I clicked on your link it came up in English and I am with MM too so it's got to be a setting on your end... as the previous post stated.Butterflyaway wrote:When I type in some web addresses, such as http://www.chromecast.com/support, the page appears in Greek.

Which browser are you using?

Re: Web pages come up in Greek!
Thats because most of our IP addresses are registered as being in 'Cyprus', and some 'smart' websites look into our customers IP address, see Cyprus as the country of origin and automatically think we are all Greek speaking...
Sometimes setting your computer country to UK or language settings to English wherever appropriate helps.

If using Chrome -
1. Go into settings
2. Scroll down and click on 'Show advanced settings'
3. Scroll down and select 'Languages'
4. Select 'Language and input settings'
5. Set the language to 'English (United Kingdom)'
If that's not an option click add and select it.
6. If Greek is there highlight and click the remove button (X).
Failing that (e.g. if you are running on a Tablet) visit

and see if you can load the MM VPN and try again...

Re: Web pages come up in Greek!
I have tried everything to get my iPad to stop the language coming up in Greek.
My country is UK, my language is English and still Greek comes up.
The latest one was when I shared a Google Drive link from my own saved file and emailed the link.
Sometimes I think it's because if you download an app, it has access to your location. This might be causing the problem. Downloading various Google apps, such as Google Drive, or Google Chromecast, seem to then take over iPads, laptops, PC's and even my choice of breakfast cereal.

Re: Web pages come up in Greek!
Tried all this and more. I have searched loads of sites including Googles. Loads of complaints going back years. It all comes down to advertisers. They need to know your location to push adverts to you. Google make millions from this, but will not put in a solution.Groucho wrote:If using Chrome -

I do not want to go through a VPN, sometimes my location is useful for other things. Also VPN's slow down searches. Many complainers have moved away from anything remotely connected to Google.
The worst part is that I cannot make out the Greek characters. Ex-pats in Japan have been advised to learn what the word "English" looks like in Japanese!

On a tablet or phone, google might as well pick up your 'last known coordinates' from your device so it is possible that nothing you would ever do, including connectiong via VPN would help in this case...

To the best of my knowledge I've never been on a Russian web site but sometimes mine comes up Greek and very occasionally Russian. I thought it was all Greek until the penny (or rouble) dropped. Don't use Chrome.

One thing that causes shed loads of problems is called 'sweet page' if you ever get this remove it ASAP. It takes over your browser and search engines and is a right nuisance.
