Re: Erols
Erols is our absolute favourite for a good quality, good value, meal. The meat is always fantastic, try Wednesdays for Kleftico, its the best I have had and I have tried lots of restaurants for this. You have to book it the day before. The price of the meal includes starters, salads, chips and rice, and fruit and coffees afterwards. Have never been disappointed and have used it for a number of years now. Caroline and Erol are always the best of hosts, and the service is excellent, plus a big car park.
I would also recommend Sultans on the main road in Catalkoy, they do excellent menu too, traditional, and have live music - traditional, plate smashing and dancing on Fridays, again you have to book as both of these restaurants get very busy now that the season is picking up.
Another good one, especially for fish, is the old Valley View, it is now called something beginning with H, just before Acapulco if coming from Estentepe. Nice sea view setting. I agree also, Bella Moon very good, but again, gets busy so book.

Forgot to say, if you are staying in Esentepe, the Aygurus Ev, up past the village is excellent. Family run, lovely place, gardens, and probably the best full kebab I have had. A great selection of Mezes, many of which you don't get elsewhere, some of them pulses and lentil based. Often go there on Sunday afternoons gets very busy in the summer with locals. There is also a lovely ambience created by a local violin player who sits quietly in the background playing traditional music.....in fact, planning a visit this Sunday as not been during the winter. They do Kleftico which is cooked in the oven in the garden. True Cypriot hospitality. Book if you want Kleftico and go with an empty stomach!

Re: Erols
We had the exact opposite experience - the food was wrong .i.e they brought the wrong dishes and the Maître D was obnoxious... While we there no less than three other tables gave up and left - we were there as guests of friends and they were embarrassed to say the least as they'd booked but the guy treated us like interlopers - but he may have been having an off day.Briannu wrote:The Zeugma Restaurant 5 minutes East of Esentepe ( formerly The Antique ) is in my opinion very good. All home produced, and a very amiable host in Ramazan.

Yes, Kiplet, you go all the way up to the village, keep following the road, past the big church in the middle, at the end turn up towards the mountains, keep going on this road til you get to the roundabout at the top , Aygurus Ev in on the left hand corner, you can park on the side of the road a little way up. Hope you try it, we have always found it to be really excellent and a bonus that it is family run, traditional and fresh.

Re: Erols
We have eaten at the Zeugma on three occasions, each time with excellent food and good friendly service.
Ramazan is taking over Cengiz's Restaurant at the Alkan Holiday Village. I think it was due to open at the beginning of May. Cengiz has moved to the brand-new Waterfall Restaurant on the Pine Valley development close to the Korineum Golf Club.

Re: Erols
Stop telling people about Eminen, it is horrible, poor food, worse service, no view at all, the building is run down and falling apart, no parking, no toilets and its so expensive!!!!
There, that should keep people away from our favorite local restaurant - lol. If it gets anymore popular we won't be able to get a table at all and will just have to sit outside in that beautiful garden.

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
