Making yoghurt

Can anybody tell me where to by 'live' yoghurt??? I want to make yoghurt. You have to add a few spoonful as a starter and have tried several makes, but I don't think any of them were 'live'. Any other advice also welcome. I don't want to buy a machine.

I just use the village yogurt. It works every time, as long as you keep it at the right temperature.
