Istanbul dusting Kurban Bayram
I have a visitor in September who wishes to go to Istanbul. The only dates we can go is during the Kurban BayramI from the 23 to the 27th . Does any body know whether or not the tourist attractions will be open. I believe the grand Bazzar & Spice market will be closed but have no info on anything else.

Re: Istanbul dusting Kurban Bayram
Most places are now open over Bayrams, a few of the museums that do close only close for the first day only (some only the morning), however it's not the nicest of experiences to be honest - I try to avoid the place as much as possible over Kurban Bayram. Before the bayram it gets rather smelly, and during the Bayram the blood just adds to it.

I just love your heading. I can imagine what allytt is referring. About 6 years ago I made the mistake of wandering around the old town in Lefkosa and the number of sheep tethered to stakes by front doors waiting to be slaughtered I found a bit upsetting. Not criticising but it just wasn't for me and I suppose I should have given it some thought in advance.
