Multimax - My problem or theirs?

I am attempting to discover why my connection has gone from good to poor.
I am in the Catalkoy area with a clear connection to the Cratos base station.

Multimax have been informed, through the recommended routes, and have confirmed my connection is ok.

I have no reason to doubt this,do not believe in conspiracy theories and believe they do the best job possible but still my connection is almost impossible to use.
I am simply wanting to establish why my connection has deteriorated so badly

My problems seem to date back to a large windows update about 4 weeks ago.
Anyone else notice a slowdown from around this time?
Anyone else in the same area suffering a slow connection?

I am not a complete Tech virgin, have tried different browsers, cleared history and cache done a full re-boot/disconnect including antenna (this does seem to have have some short term improvment) checked router (kindly done by Multimax for free) tried a different router and still cannot establish a reason for my problems.

When I can get into a speed test and if it loads, it confirms that the speeds range from 2m to 23m which seems to suggest inconsistency maybe the problem.

I have not done a system restore yet but if there does seem to some connection between this windows update and the slowdown it maybe the only answer.

Cheers

I have got the same problem with Sunny Cyprus, I have to use it very early in the morning as I get virtually nothing in the day.

I to live in Catalkoy area, & I will be very interested in what you find out, as Sunny Cyprus cant sort it either they say there is some thing in between them & me that is stopping it, I am at a total loss as @ the moment I am paying for something I am not getting.

Check device manager for your network adaptor and see if you have had updated drivers loaded, if you can roll back the drivers to the previous set that sometimes works.

Also if using a firewall like Zonealarm, try removing it and see if things work better without it then reload it.

My wireless stopped completely the other week and it was an updated setting in Zonealarm that was causing the problem, removed it, wireless then worked I then reloaded Zonealarm and everything alright.

Thanks for that two interesting replies. I`m not convinced it`s a Multimax problem, Belfast Belle interesting you are getting what sounds to be exactly the same problem but with a different ISP.

Repent at Leisure I did wonder about the firewall and good idea about drivers.

I will have a look later today and let you know if I have any joy

I am in Catalkoy and am with SunnyCyprus and have always received excellent service and high speeds through our landline. Microsoft started rolling out updates for Windows 10 a few weeks ago, it goes online on 29th July, maybe this is what has slowed your system down, although mine has not been affected. The update is free, by the way, for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.

Something that we were never told by multimax regarding resetting the system in in the event of problems.

Always told by helpline to reset the system by removing the power lead.

Makes perfect sense.

As most people know there are two, so I pulled both out then refitted them, same size plugs.

What we were never told that that the two cables work at different voltages.

Get it wrong and at best things won't work, at worse it will wreck the equipment

Worth checking!

Windows updates can cause bad problems. I have switched mine off and done system restore which cured a problem I had some 12 months ago

Bit of an update

As suggested I checked drivers, these had not been updated by windows so were fine.

Disconnected my firewall which is not a long term answer but establishes if there is a problem, there was a small increase in connectivity but not a solution. But thanks for the tip, worth trying.

However a Multimax engineer has just been and gone and discovered a faulty cable connection which has been replaced without charge and everything seems back to normal.
Just did a test and am receiving 33m,think I`m paying for 20m!

Hopefully this is the long term solution for me anyway.
