How Many Of Us ?
I wonder, hidden away, Deep in the glove box, Center console, Door side pockets etc, Cigarette Lighters ! In this weather you need to keep them out of your car. They can explode and ignite very easily.

Well you shouldn't smoke for the sake of your health anyway and as it's illegal to smoke in your car here, I hope nobody has those dangerous devices...Johnny Lee wrote:I wonder, hidden away, Deep in the glove box, Center console, Door side pockets etc, Cigarette Lighters ! Re: How Many Of Us ?
I never smoke in my car I only smoke when I occasionally drink. But I tend to just put the freebies from Merit and lots of other places in my car, also tend to keep some handy for beach bbq, (have not mastered the art of rubbing two sticks together yet). Or as my dad used to say rub two boy scouts together.
if I did smoke in my car I would use the in car cigar lighter , (most cars up until a few years back had them fitted ? maybe for around 50 years ?)
I know many people who don't smoke but have lighters.
I don't take drugs , but I have a syringe in the house.

ıt seems not, calm down Johnny Lee
A lighter can explode on a car dashboard.
BUSTED
The lighter was put in a toaster oven to simulate the maximum temperature that the interior of a car can reach, around 180 degrees Fahrenheit. There was no reaction for several hours, and the lighter finally exploded when the MythBusters ramped the temperature up to over 350 degrees Fahrenheit, well above any temperature that can be expected in the interior of a car.

Mr A...
I don't know what make of lighters they used, but I've seen a lighter that exploded having been left on a car dashboard - it was OK when we left the car, and was in small pieces spread around when we went back to the car (not my car, I would add).
This was in the UK.
It may well have had a flaw in the case, but given the quality of these things, I'd bet that it was not alone in that respect!
Strangely enough, it didn't appear to have caught fire - which was a good job

Re: How Many Of Us ?
We had one explode on our patio in the mild sun of April a few years ago so in a car in these temps. I would imagine little bombs waiting to happen. JL you make me laugh I see your rather subtle sarcasm in your reply.

I wonder, hidden away, centre console, glove box, side pockets, or even trouser pockets, a hand grenade, rather dangerous, as, if you are rooting about for loose change, you may inadvertantly, pull the pin!!
