Lawyer required need advice
Hello I am posting for friends who really need to find a lawyer who can genuinely help them, they have used 3 so far and they were terrible.
Their situation is they have a property next door to a hotel, the hotel was built after the property, they have noise problems and air conditioning pipes from the hotel that rest on the boundary wall.
All 3 lawyers have taken their money and not helped is their anyone that knows a GOOD lawyer that will help them
Please post here. Thank you so much

General advice only. Use an advocate (no lawyers in the TRNC) away from the geographical area of the house/hotel involved. Further, the hotel will have access to legal and (under the radar) assets unlikely to be available to the average Joe in the street. Good luck.

Or try the citizens advice centre by Erdener. They seem to be very good, and not as costly as Advocates, or Solicitors, or Lawyers, or whatever they like to be called.

As I understand the law (or what is supposed to be the law) here, you can not build or erect anything within 3 mtrs of a boundary wall! If air con pipes are actually resting on the boundary wall then they must be within 3 mtrs.
My first port of call would be to the local Belli as they are involved with planning permission for all new buildings/structures. If the new hotel building/structure is within 3 mtrs of existing boundaries then they will know from their plans.

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Their office is near Stonearch I think,
Can`t hurt to talk to them.

Re: Lawyer required need advice
karmels, where did I mention a 'notary' in my post? I stated 'advocate', the term used for legal counsel in the TRNC. They do not adopt the UK or European system of solicitors, barristers. I do maintain, however, select a firm away from the geographical area of conflict and be advised it will cost them dear, take ages and they are unlikely to win anything, even if the judgement is in their favour. This is Cyprus my friend!

Re: Lawyer required need advice
I agree with tomsteel. Speak to someone in, say, Famagusta who is not closely involved with the builders and hoteliers in the Girne area. However, what ever way they go, it will be costly. If the hotel in question is one of the big conglomerates they will have all the big guns on their side and in the final analysis Advocates here tend to be non-confrontational and frankly cannot help. That's my personal experience any way.

Got to agree with LooseBoots, Mine Konat would be the first person I would call she has done good work for me when required in my 8 years here.

I would try citizens advice Cyprus as first port of call, any advocate recommended or not will still charge a higher fee than c.a.c

CA Cyprus will require an upfront fee. Their advice, however, has no standing in TRNC law. Your choice!
